Hi Everyone,

I need a new battery for my 1998 VTR. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but when searching for battery or batter recomendations, I get tons of results that seeminly have no relevance to the topic.

In any case, I was wondering if there was a consensus recomendation and secondly is the battery that fits 1998-2000 Hawks different from the 2001 and up version? I ask because the web is finding me batteries, but they say for 2001+ VTR's.

The battery for the newer years are slightly smaller, so it will fit the older one, but not the other way around... At least not unless you take the plastic lid off the battery tray...

As for recommendation, buy either a Yuasa (as the OEM is) or buy a better aftermarket type, like LiFePo4 packs... Buying "cheap" is usually not at all cheaper in the long run...

Oh, and if you are replaceing the battery on a bike older than 01, consider swapping the R/R and checking your wiring, before it kills your new battery as well...
