Battery/Electrical Issue

I feel dumb asking this, but the only stupid question is the one not asked right? My bike sat for about 4 days while I was out of town and when I got back I rode it just on a short ride maybe 20 minutes. Everything worked like a charm, started fine, all lights and electrical worked great. Last night I went to start it up to put it away in the shed and it wouldn't turn over. I know with cars it will kinda give a half crank and then just die when a battery is going dead but you can tell cause the lights will be dim or not working at all. Maybe this is a bike thing, but all the lights were coming on just as bright as can be and I even tried the horn (which worked). Would it be a dying/dead battery if all the lights are still coming on like that or could there be a separate charging issue??

FYI: I was able to clutch start it and rode it around the block and all systems worked fine....it was just in the starting.

sounds like maybe the starter relay,at times this happens, take off the relay and clean all contacts and apply electrical grease to it,any other wiring or contacts you can get to should be done too.

hmm interesting, when you try with the starter does the headlight still dim upon the pressing of the start button?

yeah all the lights dim when I push the starter. it will kinda half turn over on the first push and if I let up and try it again everything dims but it wont turn at all.

sounds more like a dead battery, or at least dying battery. your bike will run when you push it because there only needs to be a little bit of battery charge, and then once running your alternator provides the voltage.

Have you checked battery connections?
