adapt 98 converter unit to 2001 superhawk harness

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and English is not my native language so I apologize if I have grammar errors.

I have a 2001 superhawk which had been stolen from me, I was able to recover it recently but they took away several pieces which I have been getting, one of them is the converter unit, I bought one from a model 98 without knowing that the plugs are different. The question is, is there a way to fit the converter unit with the harness? My mechanic told me that it is possible but I need to know the order of the cables that correspond to each part of the plug in order to adapt it.

I am from Mexico and it is somewhat difficult to get parts since the motorcycle was not sold in this country (or that is what I think) and the few for sale are at too expensive prices so buying the correct converter unit is out of the question .

I hope you can help me, Greetings to all!

This is likely to be complicated. Major reason is the HISS system that the 2001 and later bikes had. You are going to need a good, color, wiring diagram for both '98-'00 and '01-'05.
The link is for a male connector to fit the female connector on the harness of your '01. It's the 6 pin down the page a bit.
You might be able to make a jumper from the '98 converter to the Furukawa 090 male connector, then plug that into the female on bikes harness. That is assuming that the position of the wires in the old and new connectors are the same, which I doubt. Stranger things have happened.
Possibly the ignition lock will have to be replaced with one from an early model bike as well. Even if you had purchased a converter from a late model bike there is a programming issue, as I recall, with the key and the converter.
Do a search on this site, as I remember someone else doing a work around with the HISS system.
Good luck, you are going to need it. Oh, welcome to the forum.

Sorry friend I checked and have 2 spares from bikes I parted but they're both earlier models... I took a quick look on Ebay and see lots of earlier ones as well. I'll keep an eye out.

30450-MBB-E31 is the part# you're looking for. Throw up a "wanted" post in the classifieds you have nothing to lose. Can't imagine someone somewhere isn't parting one out.

There is a correct one on eBay, but they're very proud of it to the tune of $550, so I'm guessing that's a no.

Yeah haha I saw one or two new ones and I didn't even waste my time. That's more than I paid for my last complete Superhawk. Geez I GAVE the last one I had to a guy who bought the engine from me and that's how I found out they're different from '01 up.

I looked around a bit online for what a new one costs and the $550 one on eBay is actually a bit of a deal. Relatively.
