98 superhawk not warming up

98 superhawk not warming up

im guessing this is a thermostat but being unfamiliar with this bike couldnt hurt to ask this bike rarely hits temp riding ive only seen it warm up once it was sitting still in garage and took over 15mins also what are you guys cruising rpms unfamiliar w/vtwin rocket and it seems a little off so anyone that could respond with a speed,rpm,and gear they were in thanks ahead of time

Would help if you gave more specific information on bike and ambient temperature.

In FWY traffic between 2800 and 4500 depends on permissible speed...I find the slower you go the more the bike heats up, If I can just cruise at 80mph and its not exceptionally cold or hot out the bike will stay around 170-175F

It can take a bit to warm up. I have a 20 minute commute and I usually don't see the needle move until about 5 minutes in, and that's after it idles for 5-10 minutes in the drive way.

I keep my rpms between 4k and 5k for cruising no matter what gear, I'm right at 4500 rpms in 4th gear doing about 60 mph (65 indicated). For hard riding I stay between 5k and redline.

No way is it not warming up. You either have a guage issue or not enuff coolant to even touch the sensor.

I have no thermostat at all (full flow always) and mine STILL runs hot. Unless its 15* and you get right on the highway at 70 it is most likely warming

Check your coolant

coolant levels fine temp outside is 60-70f @blamecanada its getting to 175 thanks for the info just used to a bike that has the temp guage sitting centered (paranoid) lol thanks everyone for your help
