954 Rear shock

OOPS, should say 929 rear shock.

Is it an upgrade from the stock shock? Will it swap right in? I tried a search, but got a lot of ambiguous stuff.

Thanks.

Erik

I think Superbling knows for sure. I believe it can be made to work, but needs to be lengthened.

The 929 shock would need lots of mods I figure and you still wouldn't have a good fit/setup for a SH...I'd look for a used Penske cuz they are made in US and easily rebuilt for about $30 in parts

Here's one on Flebay to show you what the eyes need to look like to bolt on. If this one were long enough I think it would work. You'll need close to stock length which is 13.5 inches or 340 mm give or take...

Erik, setup an automated search on Flebay till the right one shows up. The difference between stock and a Penske is AMAZING and you'll think you're riding somebody else's bike

I ran a PENSKE cbr954 shock but it has a remote reservoir so it's totally different from a stocker.

Here's one thread from a search:

Superbling, you are a wealth of knowledge, thank you.

Looks like it's a little more extensive than I want to get into right now, to make a 929 shock fit.

FL02, that's good advice, I'll have to figure out how to set up the auto search.
