929RR Rims

I just bought an entire 929 front end.. Minus the front rim and rotors. I was wondering if there are any other rims that would fit the forks.. other than the 954RR.

Probably not. Not too many bikes use a 330mm front rotor especially with the correct rotor spacing (sometimes can be fixed with caliper spacers or different mount but not recommended), plus you will need to make sure the axle is the correct diameter and spacing (this can be done with different spacers).
I don't know why you would want to run a different wheel. The 929/954 wheel is very light and is close enough in appearance to the stock rear.

The problem with the 929/954 wheels is that they're reasonably rare these days and they get a high price on eBay. It's still probably the best bet for that front end. When I did my 954 front end conversion, the wheel and rotors were the toughest to get and the bidding was competitive.

That sucks. The best I found was $200 after shipping on up to $270. Did you think about an rc51 wheel? The rotors are too small so you would need 929/954 rotors and the RC51 wheel is four pounds heavier but it would fit.

RC51 wheels are just as, if not more expensive..... basically, ANY front rim that is straight is gonna cost you in the 150 (cheap) -300 (expensive) range... rears are much cheaper as they rarly get damaged...

You'd also need to swap bearings from a RC rim as they use a 22mm axle... you'll need to factor in the bearing cost as well (20-30) on top of the rim.... in the end, I'd just bid hard on a good straight 929/954 rim.... it will probably be cheaper in the end and you won't have to deal with random spacers and the such which will cost you as well.

Yeah thats why I was asking. There isn't too many floating around right now.. But I have the entire winter here to put it all together.. I'm definitely not cutting my riding season short. I swear I read somewhere that the 1000rr is a direct fit.. axle diameter and all. But maybe I'm mistaken. I'm sure Ill find a rim and rotors eventually. Thanks guys

Just stay on top of it, keep bidding and set your limit. I chased about half a dozen front wheels on eBay that ended up going for nearly $300 before I finally got one (WITH ROTORS!) for a little over $200. I guess everybody who needed one had outbid me in earlier auctions. Lucky for me, unlucky for the guy I got it from.

Another question. I can I use the 929rr controls? Or do I have to swap over the stock throttle, cables, levers and switches?

You will use the stock controls, which is much easier than switching over to 929 stuff. You just slide 'em off the old bars and slide 'em on the new bars.

Also, check the classified ads over at fireblades.org. I just checked and it looks like 929/954 wheels come up for sale regularly. They sell fast, too.

You read my mind. I was over there and at the CBR forums. I just have to wait till I pay off my credit card for the 929 front end. Sucks only being 20.. and having a 500 dollar limit..

So I just got a rim plus rotors for $320. Excellent condition. So assuming I had all the tools and equipment how long would you think this swap would take?
