2000 VTR Turn signal switches have a long delay

Hello,

My turn signal switches move poorly with some resistance and when I set them left or right it can sometimes take up to a minute for them to come on. Additionally when I disengage them I sometimes see an occasional flash from the indicators in the cockpit.

I want to know if anyone here has disassembled the controller and cleaned it up with any success? if so did you take any pictures? Any pointers?

Yes. They are known to be problematic when gunked up. Do a search for "slow turn signal" on this forum. Cleaning them helps some times, and some times the relay needs replacing.

Pull apart the switch, clean it up, grease it, put it back together, but upgraded auto relay, problem solved.

What sort of blinker fluid works with the IC relays? Do I need synthetic?

Yeah but you have to replace it more often!

I've been using 100% canola. If I really feel like spending big bucks, ill get the already seasoned/used oil from Burger King so I smell like fries and onion rings. You could say my blinkers are biodegradeable friendly.

I just use sun/moon power. Secondary mirrors mounted right above the grips, and I flip them back and fourth on the side that I'll be turning on. Cars catch the glint of light and know exactly what I'm doing right away!

Lol sorry guys I have not been logging on and missed it. I will document my exploits as I do this and I will use canola oil for sure!
