1998 SuperHawk 996 will start dies with throttle
Hey nice to be part of the forum and hoping you experienced SuperHawk guys can help me with my issue.
Bike will start and idle with choke on but I touch the throttle and it dies. It only has 4000 original miles and bike is in primo shape not hammered. I just got it but It has sat for a while I believe. Do you think it could just be a carb cleaning or are there other things a miss?
Cheers

Start with the carb cleaning and go from there. I picked up a bike that sat for two years with gas in the tank and carbs not drained and you couldn't see daylight through any of the main jets. May be beneficial to purchase new pilots and main jets and a carb rebuild kit before you tear into it. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Clean the carbs.
Since it starts, you can mix carb cleaner and gasoline together and pour that in the fuel line. Then start the bike and let it run with the fuel/carb cleaner mix. This will clear out the crap in the carbs if you're too lazy to clean the carbs manually.
