Heated Shirt
Heated Shirt
After years of looking I finally coughed up the $$$ and purchased a piece of 12V gear. Went with Warm and Safe heated shirt with the dual remote controller. Yeah, yeah, I know, it doesn't get "cold in AZ". I, on the other hand, do get cold easily. I see a lot of days that are cool to cold, but dry and clear. Great road conditions, but after a hour or two in the 40's to low 50's even with good clothing I get cold soaked. At that point the rest of the ride becomes miserable and, frankly, dangerous. The heated shirt is a miracle. Start to feel a bit chilled, turn on the heat and a warm glow spreads over your upper body and neck.
Don't have much time with it yet, but so far all is good. Overall build quality of the shirt looks to be excellent. As to the longevity of the heating elements, time will tell. The only minor niggle so far is the wiring for connection to the battery lead exits on the left side of the shirt. The lead from the battery is on the right side, requiring the wire to cross over. Maybe most battery charge leads are installed on the left and I'm the odd one. I suppose it wouldn't matter if a 12V accessory port was in and around the dash/control area.

Santa brought me a pair of heated glove liners. Another miracle. The gloves not Santa. Although I'm unsure how he got down the flue to the wood stove.
I do not have heated grips or hand guards (hand guards coming soon) so my hands are exposed to wind blast. Even with insulated and a water proof? membrane glove, the chill gets uncomfortable to very uncomfortable in short order. First ride was proof that the liners are a game changer. Hoping that with the hand guards I can get away with using a non-insulated, or lightly insulated glove with a membrane. The loss of control feeling with an insulated glove is something I'd like to eliminate.
Looking at Klim Vanguard long gloves. Any one have experience with these? The reviews are mixed, a bit hard to determine.
