I took the time to write a note to the governor... not that it will make a difference, but it's total BS the way they go after bikes here in NY.
Granted... there are a bunch of idiots I see every weekend that should lose their license for the crap they are pulling (or driving), but setting up roadside inspections is going a bit too far... if they checked every lowered Honda Civic for a legal exhaust, or busted up min-van for an inspection sticker then I say it's fair... but they don't.

Other than license/tag and stolen bikes ...what are they looking for ? Forgive my ignorance ,its just that we don't have inspection stickers on bikes here in Ga . So I am not familar with what they inspect in NY ?

They are looking for anything they can find.... checking all paperwork, DOT approval on helmets, aftermarket exhausts, tires, blinkers/turn signals... whatever they can find.
It's not the fact they are checking for this stuff... it's the fact they ONLY target bikes, and target them VERY aggressively.... if they were stopping all vehicles, looking for inspections and insurance, I'd shut up and not complain one bit... but it's just us.
As far as inspection stickers.... each year you gotta bring your bike to a shop and have them check the obvious... working lights, horn, good tires, all the general BS that should be working. It's more of a hassle than anything... i think the bike places hate them as well as they don't make squat, and it takes their time.

they did something like this at a local bike show here in the tampa bay area(in FL) about two years ago i think... at the entrance to the parking lot they had an un marked silverado with a deputy inside and she would radio if you didnt have eyeprotection or you did ANYthing illegal then when you got in you saw about a million cops hearding all the riders, choppers, fighters, sportbikes, cruisers, everything, into two lanes and then they went over your **** with a fine toothed comb, same vin blah blah blah. they got 6 stolen bikes arrested alot of riders impoundend a shitload of bikes and wrote countless tickets it was bad. it sucked cuz it was the biggest weekly bike show in this area.
