MotoGP on CBS!

Hey everyone,
This Sunday's MotoGP race in Spain will be broadcast on CBS not Speed!
I wonder if that means they are going to give it to us in 108i HDTV!? Oh please oh please oh please. My life finally might be complete. Go Nicky!

What a race!! Rossi and Stoner back and forth with Pedrosa right there through out!! If you don't want to know who won don't read any more of this post.

Rossi tried hard to get by but Stoner wouldn't let it stick another win for the Ducs!! At least Honda was closer on this one.

The commentators sucked. Schwantz wasn't half as bad...

Yeah he was OK until he guessed that the Honda of Tony Elias "might" have blown after shown trailing MASSIVE smoke into the gravel traps. Really? Cue saturday night live skit aka extreme sarcasm. Also, he looked like he lost his luggage at the airport. Nice shirt there Kev'.

Didn't you love Brian repeatedly calling them drivers. WTF? And his pronouncing the track as cata-lornia was a classic. Dumbass......

And the 125s and 250s had pretty damn good racing, too. You can definitely see the style of the MotoGP guys evolving in those classes.

I could not agree more about the commentators,
Schwantz was ok, but the other guy.... horrific. He kept calling the riders "drivers", an at one point Oliver Jaque( I think.. a green bike) slammed in to the back of Tony Elias and the guy said "ohh, oops", like he bumped someone's elbow at the mall.. Schwantz's comment about thinking Elias's bike having a mechanical problem did make us all bust up laughing with the unanimous reaction of, "ya think"?

Great race though. It is so nice to see Stoner keep up with and beat Rossi this year. The Ducati is amazing, although I think Rossi had the highest trap speed of the day.
Merry ol' England next!

Great race. Too bad the commentators made it sound like a game of golf. Schwantz looked and sounded like he was reading from a teleprompter. Not good.

My favorite: "This is the Nascar of motorcycle racing.."

No, it's not.

I love watching motogp on speed, I just wish there was some expanded coverage......and HD.

Speaking of announcers: how about those World Superbike guys?

I keep hoping they'll learn some phrases besides, "there's nothing between them" and "you could throw a blanket over them". And my personal "favorite": "he's absolutely flying".

or calling every rider "sunshine" ??

I still love it. At least you know they're excited about the race.

If you go to www.motograndprix.com you can download or watch a video podcast called "After the Flag". They show highlights from the race along with the commentators reactions. If you can remember how the commentators sounded on the CBS side, you will get a kick out of how much different the Brits make the race feel.

No, it's not.

That one got me too. In fact I was nearly offended by it.

The other good Brit anoucer quote: "There's no love lost between these two." I don't even know what that's suppose to mean.

I'm guessing, but I think its meaning comes from the fact that there was no love between them to begin with, and therefore no love to be lost.

So cool...

So I don't have SpeedTV, and my wife came across this race quite by accident. A tape flew immediately into the VCR and "Record". My first view of MotoGP on TV. Last time I'd seen the premium class on TV was when Steady Eddie ran away from Wayne Gardner in 500GP's return to Laguna (OMG, was that 23 years ago? Forget the commentators (mute, baby), just watching the race was a BLAST! Can't say enough about Casey Stoner keeping his Duc not only up but also ahead of Rossi even though you could see (by the ever-worsening wobbles) that his rear tire was a toasted. "Twitchy" doesn't cover it. Can you say "Desmosedici" Sure you can.
Why, oh, why, didn't Honda reward Nicky's immensely hard work and over the top effort by giving him a bike sized to him? Seeing #1 so far back after working his a** off on an undeveloped bike last year makes me question if Honda if so focused on Dani that they don't care that Nicky IS #1. Oh, well, Nicky's proven his worth and heart on a stage no one will forget. Maybe a different manu will give him a chance after he comes to himself and shelves Honda for someone that will reward him for being "ALL IN". (Loved the leathers in the final race last year)
Next race on CBS June 30th, 11 AM PDT.

PadrosaBot

I agree, Honda seemed to make the RC212V fit the Pint-sized Pedrosa better then Hayden.... I would like to see the 800cc Yamaha M1 side by side with the RC212V to get a real comparo of the size difference. Valantino is over 6 feet tall and he seems to make his 800cc package work quite well. It's not like Nicky is a giant hulking of a man or anything...
