Very sad news: andrew trevitt
don't know how many "sportrider" readers there are out there. Andrew Trevitt was in a serious accident, great writer

Whenever I'm riding twisties and going through a blind corner, I always think in the back of my mind of a driver making a U-turn just around the curve. For that reason I don't go all out in blind corners.
I hope he has a full recovery, sounds bad.

It was a Sportrider tire test, so he was likely running at a good clip.
Realistically we can't expect drivers to anticipate us when we are running well over the speed limit. (Not saying Trevitt was, mind you.)
Terrible news.
I know those guys get out and roost around hard.
They ride safe from a group riding perspective, but he must not have had the safety margin he was hoping he had. Not really about blame. It is a game that is inherently dangerous.
I sincerely hope he recovers well.

They often do a street test & a track test, since products get used in both situations. Real world testing to simulate how sportbike riders are likelyto use their bikes. Doesn't mean they're doing track speeds on the street by any means.
I will concede however, that most 4-wheelers are not predictable in terms of their behavior when confronted with a motorcycle traveling at speed. Don't ask how I know!
I'd say the blame is more than 50% on the car driver. When this happens it's usually the car making the U-turn just past the curve, instead of waiting for a long straight, bonehead move. The motorcyclist doesn't have time to react. Unfortunately there are more and more bonehead drivers out there nowadays.
Any update on his recovery?

No update yet.
Southern California is known for boneheaded drivers doing uturns. I've know 3 friends who have hit cars doing uturns on ACH and 2 in the Malibu Mountains. Each and every time, the car did the U-turn just past the apex of the turn, or in the center/apex of the turn. WTF are they thinking. They should put up signs that say "no u-turn" in each/every corner.

Here in Virginia there are quite a few overlooks in the mountains right at the apex of blind turns. You really never know when there might be a car dead stopped in the road waiting to turn left into the overlook.
[quote=nath981;191508]no disrespect nuhawk, but many of us are testing on public highway everytime we ride.quote]
no disrespect taken nath! This guy has been on bikes for a long time and was no doubt pushing it. Street testing in our sense in different than a guy that lives it.
Even guys that live it have to remember that there other guys out there that don't. I met one of them two years ago this February. Thank God I was doing 45 not 75!
