Honda's new DN-01
I'm not exactly sure what to think about this. Other than I'd love to pull up next to a harley in one ROFL.

Honestly though, I'm not sure I like the idea of it. And the side shot with the ride, the guy just looks like he doesn't belong. Or is too big, or something. I just can't nail it down. But I love the styling of the bike!

My thought is the bars are way too far back, foot pegs too far forward. If it had a racier sitting position, I'd like it a lot more. At least it's a V-twin.

There is a first ride report in one of the new cycle magazines. They didn't like it.
Automatic transmission.Less power than the Deauville that the engine was taken from.
Awkward riding position. too erect for the amount of wind coverage.
Targeted for the "early techno adopter" what ever that means.
NO storage on the bike. not ever for a pair of gloves.
Tom
What were they thinking??

its an auto. trans. so it seems to me that its audience would be for people that just want to cruise and may have little previous bike experience....to me it would not be very logical to put an insane powerplant in a "scootercycle." just look at the bike and look at the price point....honda is not stupid. so who can you picture buying a bike like this? prolly retirees wih some cash and a bad back. lol

Look it the gallery at the bottom right picture, it's an I4.
Edit: Nevermind, after looking some more, just looks like they mixed up the galleries. There are some CBF1000 pictures in the Varadero galleries.

I may be the odd ball, but I think it' brilliant. I ride with a lot of retired guys that are having trouble managing a full size bike, but still ride A LOT. One guy is 84! These guys ride 3-5 times a week, usually 200 miles a day. They've tried the scooters, but run through back tires too fast. Granted, it is not for me, but many have commented "why can't Honda make an automatic Goldwing." Here's an answer for them. Given a little time, I'm sure Honda will come out with a set of bags for it. Then there's the aftermarket industry.
I bet you'll be surprised how many you see on the road.

it would have been easier to make an auto goldwing. this is the answer to a question nobody asked. It looks weird, takes out everything that makes riding fun, and then bills it as progressive! Show me something this side of a race preped track bike that is less than 700cc's and more than 14K. it is a motorcycle that doesn't make any sense. I dont see why they would design a bike for retired people as the previous poster suggested. such a small demographic and if you have trouble working a clutch, or any of the controls for that matter, the answer is to hang it up. the skill and reaction it takes to ride means that if you are not at your best you need to get off. this is another attempt to bring in people who think motorcycles are too scary, or complicated, or fast, or difficult. they are that way becasue they have to be and it weeds out thoes that should not be on them. Way to go Honda! can't wait for the option to attach your oxygen canister to it and a storage container full of Worthers Originals under the bars.

if you were considering suicide at that age this is still the worst bike for it. a CBR600rr would do the trick nicely! this is the worst at everything! one mag said it was not even comfortable. what is the point?

Its not thay bad lookin but it does seem like it would be way underpowered. have to remember its not for carvin the canyons or backroads.
To the one who said the rider just doesnt look right, its because the rider is sittin on the couch all he needs id his remote and a holder for his beer.

Honda brought the DN-01 to Laguna Seca in July as a marketing test, and showed it off in the HRCA tent area. (I was there, working the area.) There they took a lot of test marketing data and comments from attendees on the bike. It was only after that they made the final decision on pricing, US market, etc. Oh, and I've sat on it, played with it, but haven't actually gotten a chance to ride it. It sits better than you would think, and although its heavy, the weight is fairly low and seems pretty well balanced. Obviously, only some road time will tell the real story. Evidently Honda marketing believes there is a market for it, setup the way it is and at that price level...only time will tell.
