Better CB1100R Prototype Pics

WOW, these pics are much better than the first studio concept shots. Disregard the display signs, this bike has moved A LONG WAY from the prototype stage: real turnsignals, standard switch gear, speedometer pickup, shifter linkage through the frame, CCT on the motor, battery box and r/r all point to a production level of finish. Crap, throw some DOT stickers and reflectors on it and start shipping!
Yes, that's an oil cooler in the nose and the only "wart" I can find wrong with this classic concept. Maybe radius the edges instead of the plain looking 90 degree corners.
BTW, all I-C motors are air-cooled. LOL.

The IL-4 part doesn't bother me, especially since it displaces 1140cc; it should easily out torque the Hawk. I'm even coming around on the air cooled part. The riding position looks reasonable (even if the seat doesn't).

I have seen that one, too, and it doesn't do it for me like the R model.

I like the pre '83 Superbike look, but who wants an air cooled, wide body, high in the frame I-4 engine?
For what they'd probably price it at, you could buy a near new ZRX1200, a clean '82 GS1100, and have enough money left over to buy a spare VTR.

You're probably right about this. Why would anyone want an '82 GS1100? Actually, back in '82 I really wanted a GS, but I later had a chance to ride one and was glad that I never bought one; it was the most truckish motorcycle I have ever ridden.

Again, if they built that bike with that look and ergos, but a CBR1000rr engine, I might be interested. If they build it with a 1983 engine, I'd rather buy a 1983 bike and keep the other $7500 in my pocket. That's just me.

I sure like it! But I'm a sucker for that old-school look.
I am sure it wouldn't compete with the new race bikes, but that is not its mission. Its all about providing a retro-option for the Honda lineup. Some ask, Why not buy an authentic retro from the 80's? Well, compared to the well used and corroded 1982 version, this new one combines The Look with excellent brakes, modern suspension, 21st century metallurgy, and new electronics... So if instead of a repli-racer, someone was looking for a more standard bike with a little attitude, this would be a good choice.
Notice that many manufactures are putting retro bikes out. Ducati and Triumph have their cafe racers, Harley has a Mert Lawwill flat-tracker, and of course there are cruiser's galore to look like 1940's chops and bobbers.
What sells a motorcycle? They sell on 10% technology and 90% fashion.
Even Superhawks.
