Re: what is this guy talking about???
Hi guys!
I believe he has been trying to remove the "wall" caused by the welding...Just been grinding that off! See the pic, arrow shows where the welding seam is inside the pipe.
So, not that much of modification for the headers! Of course if you smooth the inside walls of headers and link pipe it will flow more freely. But just to grind that welding seam doesn't make "any" changes to performance...IMO!
Take the right hand side muffler off and check out! I believe you can find same kind of weldings too...At least they were in my SH also.

Re: what is this guy talking about???
look what he emailed me
"The internal tubing that blocked the exhaust flow have been removed. I talked to a tuner who ran dyno tests and he said +3 or so hp when done. There is a slight but noticable increase in power. I have this on my bike and passing at freeway speeds is better. "
3 HP sounds a little exagerated

At least I haven't found any inner tubing from there...;-)...Just those welding seams.
And if it still is those seams he means...3HP gain with just removing that seam you can see, no way I would say...
In that photo you can see several welding seams. How about those, how much they are blocking the flow? Basing on that, the grinding of one seam is not going to make a big difference!
And just talking to dyno runner doesn't make any more ponies ;-)

Re: what is this guy talking about???
Theres an old thread about this somewhere on this site. I think the concensus was that the inner pipe was blocking so much of the opening that some thought that it could not have been an oversight or shotty workmanship by Honda. In any case it would be easy to dremel out yourself.
I also recall reading somewhere that our headers are very well designed and there is barely a difference between full exhaust systems and slip-ons.

Re: what is this guy talking about???
When I checked mine there was 40-50% blockage when you looked down the pipe. I dremeled mine out so it will flow better on the right side. Going for a ride when it cools down to see if there is any seat of the pants differance.
I'm a newbe to this forum and like what I have read , you guys have a lot of good info on the super hawk.
