Shortened Cans

This has probably been asked before. But I just can't find the answer.

If I shorten my cans, what will I gain or loss? I like the looks of shorter ones.

The loss would be part of your cans!

pros: less weight, aesthetically pleasing (since you said you like the shorter ones)
cons: less glass pack = more noise; babies cry and single mothers yearn and burn for you

I cut 5" off my Yoshi's, I thought they were too long stock, and a tad too quiet for my liking. I cut them down and repacked them at the same time, and they sound and look great with no ill effects that i've been able to notice.

Took about 5 inches off my Jardines. Very little increase in sound level.

Have reserves this weekend, but had to take my hugger off today due to that ****** getting cracked - previous owner - and it fell on the tire

Will patch it with some glass, and when i put it back on take the exhaust off and cut it, I didn't buy this bike to be quiet, only worry is if I go to tracks for track days and they have noise ordanices - In germany they had them, even wiht my ZX6R I had to get a different exhaust to run on the Green Hell

mine is louder after converting it to single exhaust...if I shortened it on top of that it would probably be too much...I can only see 2 or 3 single moms at a time.

I assume you are talking about OEM cans? I did a partial bafflectomy and the sound is good. I'm thinking of cutting about 8" off my OEMs since it looks the most length without getting into the front section, but haven't got to it yet. Post some pics of your cut cans if you can? thanx, and welcome to the forum.

Here's the best pic I can find. If the bike were here I would've taken a better one.

Decision made. Might be a few weeks but will be done for sure now. Is that 6 inches off?

Finally got to them...

It only took me about one hour to shorten them. I even gave them a brush look instead of the polished look. Sexy rear end......

It is a little louder when revved. Sounds amazing when idling.
