Pair valve blocking?
Pair valve blocking?
Hey. New to the forum and new to the v-twin sportbike. Just got my SH about a month ago and it seems like the weather will NEVER break. But I ride anyway
Dont know how I lived with an I4 all this time! Anyway, I have read a few things on blocking the pair valve on the superhawk. Any insight on where to get educated on how to do it? Also where can I pick up A set of block plates on the cheap? I have A 2000 SH with typical integrated tailsection, flushmount signals, baffle removal. One more thing,is drilling some holes in the plate inside the cans worth the time? I like it really loud! But who can afford $800.00 aftermarkets? Thanks everyone.
I can't tell you much on the whole PAIR thing, but I got my Jardine high mounts for $175 bucks and they're in pretty good shape with around 20k miles on them. I was just patient and found a deal on the forum.
Nice, clean looking bike you got there! Drilling the stockers would probably make them a bit louder but you can probably find a good used set of slip-ons on ebay pretty cheap.

It's under the airbox on the right side. Go to Greg's website at www.superhawk996.net
Welcome! Nice bike! Do a search here on the term "bafflectomy". Tons of threads on the drilling the pipes topic. For what its worth, I did mine 2 days after I got it back in '98. Very happy with the sound and have never felt the need for afer market pipes. Enjoy!
Along the PAIR blockoff thread, has anyone here bought the blockoff plates sold on Ebay for $22? If so, are they good quality? Do you still have to flip the reed valves, or can they be eliminated when using the blockoff plates?
the reeds are eliminated, and often with the ebay ones the plates need to be filed on one corner to fit properly.
Thanks for all the input! To cornandp my previous bikes were an fz 750,fzr 600, 600ninja,and now the Hawk. Did the bafflectomy and man the thing sounds like A beast! Love it.
