Narrowed it down to 2...

Narrowed down my choices on exhausts...

Akrapovic Full Ti system
Leo Vinci High Mount

Thing is, if I get the Akra, it'll have to be the standard mount. If I'm gonna spend that kinda cash, I'm gonna get the absolute most power I can from it, so out go the high mounts. That, and the high mount Akras won't let you keep passenger pegs...I need to keep them.

Leo Vinci...well, I kinda decided on this one cause ever website I've gone to said you retain passenger pegs with this exhaust, meaning hardware is included. I was going for a Jardine high mount, but not every site says you can keep the pegs, so I'm guessing they don't give you the hardware from every vendor that sells them....

If that member on here would get back to me, I could save some dough

But, thing about getting the Akra...is that's all I get...I won't have money to get anything else, whereas if I get any other slip-on, I can get an undertail/integrator, jet kit and filter all at once.....

Now, one of my main questions is....if I get the Akra, will I DEFINITLY need to rejet? Don't we come from the factory a little on the rich side anyways?

So what would you pick?

Re: Narrowed it down to 2...

i ordered my pipes from pipe city and they came with all the mounting hardware for the jardine highmounts plus they were a real good price when i bought them from them.
I love the sound that the jardines made and i have not heard any others as far as on the hawk. so i recommend getting what
1. you can afford
2. what you think will look and sound good

sorry i cant be much help but check out www.pipecity.com they got good deals plus call them thats how i got a great deal for my jardine highmounts with the black can.

Well, that's completely horrible. There's not ONE Akrapovic exhaust in the entire country???? ATleast, that's what the guy at StarCycle said. Apparently there's othre people wanting them too...

Same goes for the Leos....

Looks like I'm getting Jardines, lol.

I've looked for an Akrapovic full system for some time with no luck. Here's my last results: Indysuperbikes.com (cheapest list $1121.95), 8-10 wks to order, Terra-powersports.com ($1264.73), "currently backordered w/no eta. Check back end of Jan for updates.", and finally Kneedraggers.com wrote me," ....bad news is all the US importers have discontinued this
pipe and no longer sell it. Sorry again. You may be able to find some info here, and I believe I can special order it, but that will be like 4 monsoon
seasons away, plus another year just to be sure Obviously a joke, but rooted in experience".

I also looked at the Leo's, but was searching
standard mounts. My results for standard mnts: Exoticsportbike.com,(489.99) in stock.

Re: Narrowed it down to 2...

I've had time to consider the aftermkt exhaust options, and am opting to wait at this point; until something rocks my socks.
I JUST bought my 03 and would like to ride it a while, come spring in Mi,
(tick tock tick tock ), to see how I'd best like to personalize it, beyond the new Pilot Powers, FZ1 extended mirrors, double bubble, possible braided front line and EBC HH's.

If you get High-Mounts you can always get longer bolts make some spacers and bolt your rear pegs back on. That is what I just finished up today with my Two Bros. High mounts.

Re: Narrowed it down to 2...

My Leo Vince pipes arrived yesterday. They are excellent quality. Everything is individually wrapped and the directions are good. I won't be putting them on until later because I am going to get the header coated from jet hot. My only small disappointment would be that the aluminum is not polished. I guess I could polish them myself, but I'm lazy. I'm really jealous of my girlfriend's brother because he ordered a devil pipe for his 05' 1000 RR from exotic at the same time I ordered my LV's and you can read the newspaper from the reflection of his pipe. I almost got those, but I didn't like how big the actual exhaust pipes are. The size of the cans are cool but the exit pipe holes are huge and look ugly to me. Did you ever consider devils. I'll try and post a pic of each. Ahhhhhhhh.....it's nice to have a superhawk and an 05' CBR 1000RR to ride anytime I please. Life is good!

Dave,

I'm assuming your header's not new; does Jet Hot coat used headers? How much they charge? They give you an idea on turn around time?

Thanks,
Terr

No the header is not new. It is the stock header and yes they will coat it. They quoted me $140 and it should take around two weeks total time back to my house. Call em up and they will give you all the info and they will send out a nice little packet with a quote number and a price estimate. Just ship it back with your pipe and your good to go. They even send a nice little video. The telephone number is 1-800-432-3379. Good luck

I actually just bought the Jardine Race cores from woodman...can't wait. Unbelievably, when I called all the local and online places for Hawk exhausts...the only ones in stock were Jardines and Devils, does nobody make any any more? I figured I'de just help out a fellow hawk member...and of course, get a better price, lol.

Out of the Devil and Leo...I'de prefer the lower key non polished. The ones I got are polished, but the price was also too good to pass up!
