I started buying my upgrades!!

I bought a new R6 regulator/rectifier, D&D exhaust, and a speedohealer!!
I am starting to try and remove my PAIR system but it seems like a pain to remove the gas tank? there are a lot of hoses to remove and they seem like they will be hard to put back on?
I am probably going to take my bike into the local Honda dealer to have the fork springs, Dynojet kit, and 520 conversion kit installed. I think it is beyond my expertise...

Any thoughts?

I appreciate everyones help on this site!! You guys are awesome!

Please don't take this the wrong way. You're going to do a R/R, an exhaust and speedohealer but you can't get the tank off? It's three bolts and a few lines. Getting the rear off to get to the R/R is actually harder. Just my opinion though. Once you get under the tank it gets kind of tricky, so by all means take it in if you have the money though.

I took the rear off no problem... the lines under the tank are really tight though and I dont know which ones are for what so I dont want fuel to leak everywhere. I guess I will just mark them all and get in there and see what happens.

Disconnect the front first, tilt it up and turn off the petcock before unhooking the fuel lines. Can't go wrong that way. After that you can only screw up one of the lines and that is the little vacuum line on the bottom of the petcock, just take note of where it comes off and you'll be fine.

The tank is an easy thing to remove and install! Hopefully you have a manual and thats a big help, if not just go to this link and there will be one there. http://www.superhawk996.net/Honda_VT...ice_Manual.pdf

There is a valve that block the fuel from leaking too much, just pull off the tank level and it wont come out the air vent.

Where is the petcock? Is it just a valve on the bottom of the tank?

Oh also Superhawks with D&D exhaust, do you get to keep the footpegs with the D&D setup?

Correct... As said, get the bolts off, tilt it up and close the valve, tilt level'ish and disconnect stuff after noting where things go... To assemble just do it in reverse...

Yes, I don't have them on my bike, but I do know that you do keep your passenger pegs.

Since you asked....

You had better make that a Factory Pro kit. The Dynojunk kits are not as good.

i have been wanting to try the factory pro instead of the dyno junk i have. is there really enough difference to warant changing jet kits? you seem to have possible tried them both. or is it a dyno chart difference your getting your opinion from?

for the tank there are 2 things you can mess up. turning it on/off and then forgeting to do the opposite when you reinstall. or forgetting if you turned it off, then turning it off accidentally when you put it back on. put 2 pieces of duct tape on so you know off/on. Its a vacuum and technically you shouldn't have to turn it off. but do so at your own risk and safety.

second is connecting the vacuum tube wrong -we all do it - we all do it even after doing it dozens of time. it will happen. again, a piece of duct tape on the correct nozel helps avoid this. the first time it looks like a mess of tubes, but write it down and you'll be better prepared for the next job and know your bike better.

The Factory Pro equipment is about to turtle for the Superhawk. When I ordered my jet kit, the shop flat out told me - they got the only ignition advancer in the business and the shift kit eliminates the clunky first/second shift. All the major retailers have mostly delisted the parts. We tried Tuck, Parts, and finally went straight to FP. They were delighted to unload all three kits to the same meathead. Meathead muchos gracias!

Try contacting Marc at Factory Pro, I'll bet you can still get a kit from him.

I found the Factory Pro kits to be the only ones that dial in the jetting correctly. I've never installed a Dynojunk kit that was good everywhere - it always had a problem spot that you couldn't fix. I've not had than problem with any of the Factory Pro kits.

Well I installed the R/R, D&D exhaust, and Speedo healer... All fairly easy, the D&D exhaust is the most awesome thing and I wish I would have had it done a long time ago... Everyone was saying it was "obnoxiously loud" Quite the opposite!!!!!!! I love that everyone on the street knows where I am now.

Next will be the front forks...
Front tire
520 conversion 15/43
Factory pro jet kit
BMC
New spark plugs
etc...
