Factory Pro HDJ needle jet

Factory Pro HDJ needle jet
Me again
Firmly in the grips of OCMD and ever trying to discover new ways of making the VTR perform better, I just boxed up my spare set of carbs and am shipping them off to Marc at Factory Pro. My hope is that he can install a set of his (patented) HDJ (high dispersal jet system) to the carbs. Have a look at the link here: HDJ, High Dispersal Jet, BMC, Denso, air filter, Yamaha, r6, honda, f4, kaw, ducati, intruder, Factory Pro New Products
As we all know, anything that improves fuel atomization leads to improved response, power, as well as smoother operation and possibly reduced fuel consumption (the latter certainly not a priority, but hey, if it happens, I'll take it, I give enough money to those parasitic oil companies, lol).
Anyhow, no guarantees it will work as Marc informed me he has never attempted installation on a set of VTR carbs but he's willing to give it a shot. If it doesn't work, my carbs may go to the garbage, but as they are essentially sitting on a shelf unused, it wouldn't be the end of my world.
Will keep everyone posted.
P.S. In keeping with forum traditions, I expect the naysayers to pipe in and discredit the idea, only to rush in to copy it if it works, lol

I replied to this on the VTR1000.org site, but seeing this new video made me see something different. Is fuel coming out of the sides of the needle? For some reason, it really looks like it.
EDIT: Nevermind. Fuel is in fact coming out the sides of the needle. Cool idea!
EEDIT: (The extra E is for another edit)
Is the Factory Pro system the same as the Yoshi MJN system?

yes, very cool idea. Unfortunately, very hard to come by (if even possible, not mention uber-expensive). Seems the Factory Pro option gives much the same benefits, but may be obtainable (and MUCH cheaper), as well as significantly easier to tune.... I really hope this project works out.......

assuming the installation works, it may be a while before I can provide feedback as to their operation as our riding season is winding down, so worse case it will wait until next spring.....

This jet is most interesting. Thinking more for my 2 stroke trail bike. But Im always up for mods.

so, I finally heard back from Marc at FP and he has successfully installed the HDJ needle jets. He stated that he would need to install one of his 1.7 jet kits too, however. I must say that this one was somewhat unexpected but some Google searches indicates that his said kits have an excellent reputation, so may as well try it......

Carbs on their way.... Work done: HDJ needle jets and 1.7 jetting kit installed (which includes drilling out and replacing the stock main air jets....); comments on the Net are all extremely positive for these set-ups, hope it holds true for the VTR.......
$480 USD plus shipping (ie. one-third of the way to a set of FCRs)....... I sure hope it works......

can't wait to see it too, not to mention give it a whirl, though (as I have noted previously) that likely won't be until next spring, but in the meantime I will strip the carbs of all unnecessary fittings (coolant, PAIR vacuum feed), replace all fasteners with Al or Ti, and replace the steel side plates with carbon...... foresee one lb of weight disappearing...... it all adds up..... I may try to streamline the butterflies too, though not sure about that one.......
I have to admit it ended up costing more than I had hoped, so I hope it works.......

All things aside I hope it works but I can't contemplate what it must be like not being able to ride all year round.
What do you do when you can't ride your bike?
Here in Oz when it gets to the height of summer I spend more time surfing than riding and that is when I am most productive with the bike.
Sorry for the thread jack but curious!

post the link please (that site is a nightmare to navigate). He had a section about the HDJ but the VTR wasn't in the list before.....
edit: never mind, found it..... so he has added it....

so, carbs came in a few days ago...... had a look at the HDJ needle jets and can't see the small holes, though I am wondering if they are perhaps on the underside... also, they have installed the 1.7 jet kit, which means that the main air jets have been removed and replaced (holes are 1.4mm on front and 1.1 mm on rear, both of which seem larger than the stock hole from what I can see). Anyhow, as I am trying to learn how everything works, not to mention I want to reduce the number of times I have to pull the carbs apart next spring as I venture to get the jetting spot-on, I sent an e-mail to Marc at FP asking him about the following:
- all else being equal, does the switch to the HDJ needle jet require richer or leaner settings, and by how much (clip positions and MJ sizes)?
- as I am running a set of identical length HPower (long) stacks on my bike (instead of the staggered OEM stacks), will the new MAJ set-up work for me or will additional changes be needed? Also asked him to explain why the stagger on the hole sizes.
Hoping to get an answer.....

I had a look, even used a magnifying glass (from above) and can't see any of the small holes that you can see on the website pics of the HDJ. However, looking at the profile shots (again, on FP site), I am left wondering if the small holes are not located on the underside of the needle jet? Anyhow, will await the reply from FP.......
