Smile Exhaust can building.

Hi all, need to pick the collective brain.
I'm going to build 2 cans for my vtr, and need some advice/help/abuse.
Being a bit of an exhaust dum-dum, at the moment i have got hold of 2 stainless steel tubes which are 300mmx110mm across, and the matching perforated tubes to match.
Am i correct in saying that the other parts i need are:
2x inlet caps to join to link pipe
2x exhaust caps for end of cans
4x rivet straps
rivets
packing wadding.
the more input and thoughts i get on this the better because i want to get it right first time.
Cheers all, chris.

What exactly do you use for the packing? I'm thinking about fabbing up an exhaust that exits under the bike but don't know what to use to pack it with. Thanks

you can use fiberglass insulation, or the kind designed for mufflers. There is also steel wool packing

There was one here

I may build one very soon, not because I want it loud, but definitely not restrictive and the cops here are inserting a piece of cloth hanger in the pipe and give tickets if straight trough.* So I'll make my own design very soon.
If you are willing to build an exhaust, on the Hawk the headers need the more work and might yeild the most improvement, the design looks as smart as a snake that ate his own ***

Chris check your MSN or reply to text messages As the bloke making your caps is offering to finish it all off if you want - now't like having an Aston Martin race exhaust fabricator offering to build it
