900rr project build question

Im building a 900rr w a 929 front end(inverted forks)

Its on its way; have all the remaining parts needed to start her up coming in. However I have multiple other parts/subframes and even the original forks/brake systems and wheels(3 pairs.)

My question is this before I consider other options or (being lazy) see if the wheel fits myself:

? Would the stock 900rr front wheel(I have some 17s an the original 16") fit w the 929 forks/front end?

My concentration has been on fixing the bike vs the overall performance up to this point. Thanks all!

I have some build threads on other local forums but if there's interest I can post up here too.

No one sure?

Im going to play with it after I get the remainder of the supports I need to start hanging the plastics.

After I trim them to fit; they are all coming off again and I'll start rebuilding the forks. I'll be checking at that time if the 900whls will fit. I'll let you know what I find out

Front wheel can likely be made to fit (although axle diameter is 25 mm on the 929 vs 20 mm on the 900) but the main stumbling block will likely be the brakes as the 900s used either 296 mm rotors (pre-1998) or 310 mm (98-99) whereas the 929's were 330 mm. Good luck.

Until I can write it out... here is the local thread for the build...

and mikster, thank you for the info... I was afraid they would be different. I dont have a front wheel to match and several other sets for the 900rr so I suppose Im at a loss.

RCVTR is an unknown quantity at this point
Why not run 17s and bigger brakes?

I would put the whole 929 front end on, then raise the forks in the triple clamps to make up for the larger tire radius. Do you know how the triple clamp offsets compare?

Don't do it without taking the springs out and checking clearances at full fork compression.
