VTR1000 with a difference
commendation on the time spent making the yokes etc, but just thought i'd point out, in case you didn't know, a lot of tech colleges have open workshop evenings where for a small fee you can use the machine shops, assuming you know what you're doing.
i've used st.helens college workshops for several projects, last time was just making up some engine mounts and a drive chain tensioner for a hill climber i was building, but there were guys there building allsorts, using the gear cutting machines etc...
lots of modellers use the facilities for turning steam engine parts and stuff.
worth a look if you have any other major parts to make - would've saved you hours using a decent miller

I've never used a miller but I'm sure I could google up some lessons. I do plan on doing a Milling a Turning course in the future. I can make simple things on my Lathe but it would be nice to be shown properly. I'm always on the look out for a cheap milling machine. I missed one last year for £200.
For these yokes (trees), I could have posted the Slab of alloy to 2 people I know in the engineering trade who would have cut them out for free.
I did it that way because I want the bike to be built as much as possible the way they do it in Asia.
It's not all done total gorilla style, my friend Atan, is a pro builder in malaysia said he had a deadline on one of his competition bikes so he got his Frame parts Plasma cut.
I just want to show them that not all western bikes are CNC made billet barges built with a cheque book.
See clip, this bike was built in 31 days :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3oaryw2pVU

I think he is in Selangor. Here is his Website

I know he will be on his way to Thailand soon because I have flights
booked to meet him at Pattaya bike Week. Not sure when he will be
leaving though.
He hasn't built any Bikes this Year so I think he will be travelling light and
may stay to work in BKK for a while.

Bet you thought you'd got rid of me didn't ya!!!
Managed to get ahead on the other projects so my bike gets some time on the bench.
I've started looking at the water pipes. I will put them through the frame where I can,
just got to work though it one at a time.

It is form over function with this one and I hate offset Yokes.
Maybe if I emigrate but I want to ride it for a good while before I even think of selling it.
Seems to be no shortage of people who want to buy it but when it comes to parting with cash it is usually a different story.
I've just got back from my trip to Bike Week in Thailand, so I'll be back in the Shed tonight with a vengence.

Mad scientist in a dungeon laboratory is what I think of when I see your pictures. I can hear Rob Zombie and bubbling beakers. You need to set up a fog machine for your next round of pics.
Keep up the great work.
Do you usually keep your bikes? Will you be putting some miles on this one?

I can't remember the last bike I sold as this is the first Bike I have actually built for myself except for my Trike which I have built twice. (still got that)
The other Trikes I have done have been for Friends so I've not sold them as such.
I did do an Exup for my ex Boss once but I don't count that as we bought in a Tigcraft Frame.
I can assure you it will get ridden even if it rides awful.
Well as promised I have done some work on the Honda but it doesn't look much for 3 Hours work.
I pulled tha Back end off the Bike and Started making some Spacers for the Rear Shocks.
The original rubber bushes are spliting already so I will make some new ones out of Phosphur Bronze to fit these stainless spacers. Hopefully I can find some PB tomorrow then I can switch the Lathe off for a bit.
I've been putting this job off for a while because it is so boring.

My Lathe is slow esspecially when working with stainless so I have to psych myself up for these little jobs. Hours of work and small Parts at the end.
They have been on there since I made the swing arm.
I got them of ebay for £100. I think you can buy them new for about £150 and
probably alot less in the states.
If they work out ok then I'll up grade them to fournails later on if I can resist
the urge to cut it up again??

Today I put a bit more time into the swing arm adding some more strength.
It doesn't look much but it took most of the afternoon. I wish I had taken some pictures of the internal gussets. It is total over kill but it won't fall off!!
Still a load of blending to do but hopefully it will be finished tomorrow.
