Thinking about an aftermarket windscreen

I'm tall so I'd like something to move the airflow up a little without the nerd or touring look.

Suggestions?

Zero Gravity Double Bubble. I've had mine since purchasing the bike, and LOVE it. I got it for cheap off eBay, too. One of the ZG Outlet stores is there.

Puig - high quality, nice fit, decent airflow, great looks.

I don't recommend Aeroblade, they work well and look nice but the fit left alot to be desired.

I have a Powerbronze unit, and as with supperhawk22, found the fit to be not to my total satisfaction as the holes are not countersunk and causes a gap between it and the fairing. I fixed it myself but you shouldn't have too.

6ft 1in. The ZG double bubble is a definate improvement, but it is not perfect. I wanted the Puig touring screen, looks be damned, but it is on intergalactic back order.

Aw, ****! Maybe I've got the Powerbronze and not the Puig. It's been so long since I bought it (off eBay) that I forgot the brand. Does it say "VTR1000" printed in silver? Mine aren't countersunk either. How exactly did you fix it?

Yet another vote for the ZG DB. I'm 5'10 yet I ran a superbike bar kit so I probably sit as high or higher up than you at 6 ft with stock bars.

I guess I'm the only nerd on here I have the zero gravity touring shield.I like it it keeps the wind up over the helmet when tucked.but it tends to add to the already skinny front end on the hawk o-well It's still better than stock!!!

Great info in this thread. Just today I went for a 120 mile jaunt at 95-120 the whole way (yeah, had to stop for gas!) tucked behind the stock screen and took quite a bit of the wind....which got my sad excuse for a jacket flapping like a sail in a hurricane. Think I'll go with the ZG double bubble after reading the above....I've only seen one decent pic of the ZG touring screen somewhere on this site I believe.....reminded me of the Alien movie...long drawn back head, but hell I bet it blocks a ton of wind!

You've hurt Chilly's feelings

I really like it, but given everyone's input I may try a DB someday.

I have a Zero Gravity windscreen, but it is not like the ones everybody is talking about. It has the rise of a double-bubble, but the smooth shape of a touring screen without the tall lip. I bought it when bought my SH in 99'. Parts Unlimited was the source. I haven't seen them on any other SH. It has great wind deflection without the look of a tall touring screen.

Thanks for the link calitoz. The luggage shown on the twistedthrottle site is what I'm interested in.

any word on prymid plastic's windscreens? I think that is what i had on my old SH. Just bought another one (2 years later) and REALLY wish I kept my list of mods and sources! I think i tried the DB zero gravity and found it to be too flimsy. That was 2 years ago though. -
prymid plastics? anyone?
thanks

+1 Very nice quality. Even has a nice piece of trim to cover the edge facing the rider. Recommend you order a new set of 4 rubber grommets for the windscreen- my 8 year old ones were not easily transferred.

I have a SECDEM HP (High Protection) windscreen on my VTR (dark smoke).

Expensive, but works exceptionally well. Fit/finish are excellent.

I haven't seen the Puig, but the ZG DB I bought was very flimsy in comparison. In fact I sold the DB without even putting it on the bike.

Very happy with the SECDEM. They are made in France. They have a website.

PS I am 5'10'' tall and have Helibars and a Sargent seat on the bike so I sit up and back from the stock riding position.

are you sure you want to move the airflow up? I'm 6'1", I love the stock sceen. It puts the windblast right on my chest which helps to "prop" me up and take weight off of my wrists.

my RF has a Zero Gravity, I hate it. The windblast is higher, helmet level. Doesnt help hold me up, and the wind buffeting at my head SUCKS..

I got a Puig dark smoke from sumofallparts on eBay. This is one solid piece of plastic, not like other flimsy designs.
I am 6'4". It took awhile to get used to this new screen, since the wind blast is raised quite a bit higher from stock. My wrists were sore for the first few rides after I installed the new screen since the wind was no longer holding me up, but I did get used to it and now appreciate the change.

p.s. I've HEARD that certain bubble style clear screens may magnify the sunlight and cause warped plastic on your speedo case. Anyone know which particular brands might do this??
