tail light options?

from the looks of things without getting a filler plate my options for a different tail light arent that great. id like something a little different but am not sure whats out there. something brighter and led powered would be great. perhaps even eliminate the blinkers and integrate a set of flush mounts at the same time. what are my options? something to just make the bike stick out a little more

the Haknslash mod is a good one or there are integrated LED setups on eBay, or used to be. I bought a clear one with blinkers for ~$60 shipped, IIRC.

thanks for the link.

i was looking through ebay and they seem nice but its hard to tell from an ebay picture especially when it comes to quality, ebay stuff has been known to be cheap for alot of things which is why its so in expensive. do you have a pic of yours and hows the quality compaired to the oem unit?

I was thinking of doing the LED "haknslash", and add some LED turn signals on the surface of the trailer light. Auto zone sells some LED's that look like this < > and they have "sticky" tape on the back for mounting... I think I can make something work...

I remember years back you could buy led light bulbs. There were like 6 leds per bulb. They replaced stock bulbs. Same size as stock. Wonder how they'd work in the stock housing.

I tried some I had in my collection of crap... they don't light up well enough, or bright enough to make any real difference... IMO

The ONLY thing I noticed that was better was they light up almost instantaneously... so you have that millisecond to ward off cagers...

The PO had cut the fender down, but did a pretty sloppy job. I cleaned that up and put small LED turn signals on the rear cowl. The brake lights were converted to LEDs (different from Hak's mod). For some reason the police keep eyeballing me. It may be the turn signal pods are too small.

Haks mod is extremely easy... Took about 30 minutes total with a without a dremel...

i got the light from autozone as I recall. Where Hak suggested to get, they had it...

haha nice plate. ive been thinking of a way to intergrate the lights to clean the bike up but really in the end its all about being seen. are there bulbs available thatll speed up the blinker? somehting along the lines of almost seizure speeds?

Well seizure speeds would probably be the Protons. I haven't used them, but I here they have a strobe feature. One search turned this thread up. https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ghlight=proton

Good one.

I don't like your chances of talking your way out any speeding tickets with that plate!!

cool thanks greg. anything to be seen by idiots. watched a guy on a cruiser almost get taken out by a car full of idiots yesterday on the hiway, they merged and then decided to change lanes right into him, luckily he was quick on the brakes. although the guy was riding in the middle of his lane didnt seem to have that lane blocking thing figured out.

Those are a waste of money for the most part.
