speedo faceplate swap

would it be possible to swap out the Speedo faceplate in my storm with one from a hawk? mines canadian spec and is in KPH and i want it to be in MPH. it has MPH but they are so small and dark grey which is hard to see on the black background even in the day. and the MPH doesnt light up at night like the KPH does. would swapping the faceplate give me what i want? or are the gauges actually different and i wouldnt get accurate readings? also where can i buy just the faceplate? every parts fiche has it as a part of the whole cluster.

does anyone have either just the speedo faceplate or a broken instrument cluster i can buy and take the speedo plate out of? i dont wanna pay $100 for a set of working hawk gauges just to grab the plate

thanks wicky. ive seen that thread. i like the white face but really just want the MPH to be easily visible. so id assume then its a straight swap with the plate from a hawk. now if i can only find one.....

HAHA love the fork why didn't I ever think of that? One more reason to have motorcycle parts in the kitchen

I just swapped to a digital CBR dash to fix that issue. You can also add a bike speedo to add digital readout.

What year is your hawk, I have a parts cluster that I may be interested in getting rid of just the speedo.

iys a 98 but i already found someone to part with just the faceplate. i thought about the CBR dash but ultimatley it just looks cool. ive read about people frying things trying to hook the CBR dash's up. if anything id like the RC dash but i dont know if anyone has gotten it to work...
