Question about seat cowl.

Hi, I was looking at buying a seat cowl for my 2001 SH. I was wondering if a cowl will fit properly over a Sargent seat. Anyone with any input I thank you.

The cowl fit's both the Sargent and Corbin... But from what I have read it's really tight and a bit awkward to remove/attach and in some cases will even need some grinding to cooperate...

I've got a Sargent, and the cowl cover fits fine on mine. I had no problem installing it. And the Sargent seat is much easier to remove.

+1, though I can't compare Sargent to Corbin.

Anyone have an idea about foam life? How long does a Sargent seat last? I bought mine used about 4 yrs ago .... on a long ride, several hours long, the seat ain't so comfy anymore. Old foam?

The cowl fits fine with a sargent seat, and unlike the corbin the sargent fits perfect the ways the stock seat does. It's also light like a stocker. The corbin looks really cool but it weighs a ton, and I've had several and they also fit like ****. They make the seat cowl stick way up. I think there were rubber bumpers underneath (sorry it's been awhile) I cut down some and it made the seat/cowl fit alot better.

+1 to what Tweety said. The tabs at the sides of the cowl have to be trimmed to fit the Sargent. Think of the weight you'll save.
It is a tight fit. The tab at the back of the cowl on mine fractured. I made a new one with Plastex.
I've had a Sargent seat on my VTR for at least six years. I rode back to Canada after the MotoGP at Indianapolis last Sunday. The ride took about 10 hours. A number of body parts weren't doing so well by the time the ride ended but the firm and manly cheeks of my derriere were not among them.

swordfish is an unknown quantity at this point
it will fit over the corbin too. mine fits fine. no tab trimming. nothing broke. and you know those holes on the tabs on the underside part of the cowl? the 2 tabs that go under the seat? well the corbin has holes that match up, so I found the right size screws and locked the cowl down to the seat on the underside. so unless I take those screws out, the cowl will not come off the seat. Anyway, I guess I got lucky, cause my corbin fits fine. just like stock. it is heavier, but that's no big deal. I'll post a pic of the underside to show you what I'm talking about if you want. so many people on here have had bad experience with the corbins, and I never had any problems.

Yeah I love my Corbin. I also Found out for us guys in Seattle washington that Everett Powersports sells the rear seat cowl shipped for 105.20. Not bad cause i have not found any on ebay or anything. Just thought I would shout that out to all my PNW buddies!!! Oh And it will take 3-4 Business days.

Keep looking I bought a brand new one off ebay for $20. Also use craigslist-use craigspal.com to do a nationwide search-I know I've seen at least one nice red one on there for $25.

Any of your guys cowls stick up pretty far in the back? i bought one a few weeks ago, and it looks good... but it does stick up in the back about 1/2 an inch. I looked that that back tab and i dont know if trimming that will do the trick.
