Parts advice.
Hello To Everyone.
Looking for some advice about some aftermarket bits for my Superhawk. I have a '98 Street Superhawk. I also build race motorbikes for racing in places such as Phillips Island's vintage Classic and the Manx GP. Because we wont be racing this year we plan to also do some non TT events on the IOM next year. I tell you this because for the real road races I use the Superhawk prior to the race meets to just ride the course and get a feel for the set-up before I send the riders out for actual combat. Here in lies the reason for my questions:
1. Do you know of and Carbon fiber wheels that will bolt on the Superhawk ? Would like to be able to use rotors and calipers from the stock configuration as we're spending enough rupees on the race bikes so trying to save what I can on the road tester.
2. Triple clamps that I can use to tighten up the fork/chassis. I've been using this bike for hard street riding and track testing and have learned they don't want the chassis made stiffer but the interaction between the suspension and the chassis is a wee bit vague. So I'm trying to find a set of triples that will put a bit more bite on the fork tubes.
Thanks ahead of time for any help or advice. I will admit that part of this is an excuse to take a motorbike along that the crew chief will have and excuse to take out on course. One of my riders (Wade Boyd) has over 50 Isle of Man starts but the other rider (Eric Lindauer) has only PI so his imput is lacking so being able to ride the course myself will be a help.
Thanks again.
Rich .

My 2 cents, if you're on a budget for this bike I'd much rather put my money into some inexpensive brake mods/upgrades (F4/RC51 calipers, master cylinder, braided lines, good pads) than be concerned with carbon fiber wheels. They're easy and effective. Aftermarket rear shocks are available. I'd say a solid package would be to have DMr forks and rear shock. There are also fork braces available. I'd imagine those sorts of things will give you the most bang for your buck. Going beyond that I used to own a Superhawk with RC51 SP2 forks and rear swingarm (not exactly cheap) so that opens up all the wheel options for an RC51 like BSTs (again not cheap), etc. I don't know if they make bolt on carbon wheels for a stock Superhawk but I'd imagine with some measurements and enough money anything could be fitted up. But new you're going to spend more on the wheels than the bike is worth... Again I'm no expert just my 2 cents.
Rich, I can't recall anyone ever using a different steering stem, be it lower and/or upper, for the stock forks. Have you ever considered and USD swap? That would stiffen up the front a bit. As would a good fork brace. Coerce makes those.
And the Honda 900rr rear wheel/ CBR F3 front are direct swaps, so look for carbon wheels for those models.

Wolverine,
Thanks for the input. I have thought about the USD fork swap but because all the race bikes I'm working with are required to run conventional (max diameter 41mm) what we've been doing is using Olhins racing cartridges in those forks with a fork brace. I was looking for stiffer triples because I can feel a wee bit of twist (more to the point I can feel the triple unwind) under hard corner entry braking. Thanks a lot for the wheel information BST and Dymag look as if they make both those wheels and AllBallls makes bearings that will do the trick for mose any kit you can arrive at.
Cheers

throw a front end in from a fireblade, years 93 to 97 firs straight in and are rwp forks. you can also use the firestorm brakes and wheels.
or
same forks but use the yokes from a 98/99 model that came with a much bigger alloy bottom yoke tho you will need to make spacers up as they are 15mm wider than the upto 97 yokes, the upto 97 bikes had a steel bottom yoke.
and you then have a nice set of 45mm forks which are stiffer than the storm items
