painting prices

does anyone know how much it would cost to have all of the fairings and a tank painted? I live in an apartment so I'm not going to do it on my own outside. I don't want anything way out there, maybe a royal blue pearl. any recommendations on how many coats of clear I should get on top?

I'll do it for a case of beer payable in advance. I don't guarentee my work though. LOL

I had another bike of mine painted by a friend for $400. It depends on how you want it to look as to the number of coats, etc. This guy just did a base, paint, and a coat of clear in yellow and it looked good.

Doing mine myself right now, and for materials it is probably running about $200 for primer / black base coat / orange - black top / and a few coats of clear. Maybe another $50 in stuff for fixing the dented tank and bodywork damage. I imagine somebody doing this for a living will find better prices then I did, so beyond that its all for labor.

I was quoted $400 for the front fender and belly pan thing...

But, when I am ready next year, the Superhawk is going to undergo a color transfusion, and all I have to buy is the supplies!

I think I was quoted $400 just for the tank. Stock Italian Red - which nobody can match.

I got both side fairings and the tail painted at a local bodyshop for $200. I did all the bodywork myself, and he did a pretty nice job of matching the stock yellow tank, headlight fairing and solo cowl on my '99. I can't imagine he'd have charged more than $400 if that for everything.

The stripper is probably the most important supply needed, so don't skimp there if you can avoid it. Lots of time to kill waiting for those coats of paint to dry!
