Mud Flap Mod/removal

Just wondering if anyone has any pics of their mudflap after they removed the offending bits. I can't decide where to cut it and would like to see it before I hack away. Thank you in advance!

You dont have to cut it. Just unbolt it. That is what I did when I added my hugger.

I unbolted the license plate and slid it to where the top of the plate met the bottom of the brake ight. Drew a line where the bottom was, and cut it off there. I could have cut off more, but i wanted it to have some support.

I then went to advance auto parts and found 3" LED stick on lights and wired those up under the taillight. I put some spacers under the bottom of the license plate so it would be at an angle and the lights would shine on them. My only adivce is.... get the white ones if possible. I got the blue ones and im pretty sure im going to get pulled over soon

Craig
I am hoping to keep stock'ish look to the bike but I have seen some nice huggers, yours included.

Thanks for the pics guys. Lots of options. I hope to keep the stock lock in place so I think I have the spot picked. I will cut a little below it for practice and then do the deed.

here's what i did, this is all before the mototech undertail
i took everything off

trimmed it to very minimum

Filled in All the holes including the lock cylinder

Painted The Whole Thing Flat Black

Then I Driled a Hole On The Under side for the Lock

This allows you to put the plate directly under the taillight instead of hanging down under the reflector and for plate lights i used the led bolt light from herehttp://www.customdynamics.com/illumi...#LED_Tag_Bolts

and youre all done hope this helped

For turn signals i got a integrated tail light

Not yet, my cable is missing, so I just covered the lock. I'm not going to worry about it until I get an undertail

I just made my license plate hole big enough for the lock. Drill a couple of holes in the bottom of the taillight (the black part) and glue a small piece of plexi on it for a plate light.

Done!

Finished up just as the rains came. I wouldn't enter the cut job in a how-to forum contest or anything but looks worlds better. I only had a small kitchen exacto knife and was wanting to get this done before the rain came and figured I can make it pretty when the weather is more cooperative.

Next up is trying the signal cut down that I saw mentioned here somewhere. The procedure involves moving the rear signals 2 inches closer to the fairing. I would love an integrated rear light as I had one on my 954RR and it was way more noticable for braking and signals (LED) per my riding buddies. Looked better too. Unfortunately, they are illegal up here and the police like to make an issue of them. Might do it anyway and try to buy a stock undertail piece which I could keep for returning the bike to stock (trimmed up fender of course) if the police give me any trouble or the new owner doesn't want it.

The 1st pic is the reason I was hurrying. The 2nd is my work shop and the reason the rain is an issue. The 3rd and 4th are self explanitory.

I forgot to add, an easy way to cut the plastic without much mess is to heat up a 4" metal putty knife ( I know there is a better name but my mind is mush) with a torch, then just press it to the plastic. Nice and straight too.

That definately would have helped. Thanks for the follow-up!

Superclean - I would suggest that you remove the ugly reflector that is above the lisc. plate and buy a inexpensive LED white lite to put there. The wires can be used from the old plate light to power it.

That way your road legal, and the cops wont hassle you. Worked for me.

I think I will cut a hole in the stock black plastic under the tail light and glue a clear piece of lexan or similar to keep crud out. It is raining but should be sunny Sunday and I hope to get a look under there again and see if that is the way to go for me.

Just have to say this forum is awesome you guys! No !
I have been spending too much time on here apparently because my fiance thinks I am on-line chatting or something. I think she thinks a Super Hawk is code for a young cougar! jk

We just bought her a HONDA CHF50 JAZZ SCOOTER (Metropolitan in the U.S.) as her introduction to 2 wheeled motorized transport. She looks very cute on it and who knows where it will lead.

I have seen some people drill right through the license plate for their seat lock... Is that illegal? Or "not" illegal?
