Hello all !!
Just thought I'd introduce myself cause I'm new around here.
I have a '98 VTR that is in fair shape ... abit busted up from the prev owner who told me he hit a deer.
Anyway ... I've had the bike for a couple years ... love the sound and the torque ... hate the gas mileage and fit (I'm 6'2").
I've been looking for another bike and simply can't find anything that excites me so I decided to try and use the cash I woulda spent to "fixup" the ol' VTR! {;-)
Besides, I love the V-Twin and don't think I wanna go back to an inline 4.
I'm gonna be looking around the forums for mods that might help in the comfort zone and also for some new front fairing/head light options.

Welcome to the site! 
Sounds like you might be a candidate for a streetfighter setup. Check the forums for some pics of how others have ditched the fairing and gone with the naked look, some are pretty ingenious.
If you want higher bars, check out my recent thread on superbike bars. Real easy mod if you don't have a fairing to deal with or you don't mind trimming your damaged ones.

Niffty idea ... I was looking for fairings and whatnot ... but ... after reading your post I searched the forums for 'streetfighter' and found this:

I'm not overly mechanically adept ... I wonder how much pain I'd need to endure to achieve that finished product ...
