integrated tail light has a row of LED out.

Hey all. I picked up one of those integrated led tail lights off ebay... it was used, for 15 bucks... cant complain. brand was not listed, looks just like the Volar so many have posted about right down to the wiring and etc, but i really couldnt tell ya.

installed and got the signals working and running/break light working no problem, quick and easy. i didnt notice at the time, but now i see the center brake leds, which are supposed to be two adjacent columns, is only 1. one of the columns is not lit. any ideas?

I will get a chance to play with it more on wednesday, but would be nice to have a list of things to try before i go into it.

thanks,
Dan

Do they come on when you use the other signals?

Have you been trying with the bike running or on battery?

You might just have a damaged series, but it could be that the source voltage just isn't high enough.

I had a set of LED mirror signals and when I tested them on my 12v source only half of them came on. When I tested them on the bike all of them came on and everything was perfect. Just an idea...

haha, yeah, mine was used to boot. just figured it might be something stupid that i missed. dunno, ill run it as is until another option comes around. hoping 1 column of led wont make a dif between safety and a smashed rear end accompanied by a superman flight.

Check the board that the row of LEDs are plugged into. More than likely there is a common connection that may be bad on one end or the other. Nothing that can't be fixed with a soldering iron, a little flux and solder.
