Installing New Handle bar grips , but riser bar is NOT hollow...

I guess easiest question is, can i remove (unscrew) the threaded nut inside the riser bar so i can fit those universal expanding rubber bar ends in the tube?
I just discovered the nut is somehow broken and it just keeps spinning and spinning when u screw in.
It currently has heated grips (which i will be selling since San Francisco isnt freezing weather.

FOR SALE: oxford heated grips ... lol

Thanxs

Can't remember hearing of that happening before Gabe. Is there any chance you can get on there with a power tool, such as a fast speed drill? Maybe it could catch the ears of the nut on the bar end and get things started (enter vtr1000f here)? Can you slip something behind the head of the screw and pull it back a little out of the end at all?

The previous owner overtightened his bar ends and broke some internal piece in the riser bar. So now when u screw it in it just spins once screw is fully in but its not tight.... tried the speed drill prior, didnt catch.
