Undertail

Undertail
I am looking to do something different with my '98 superhawks rear end. I have seen some really nice 1000rr mods etc, but I am not sure that I want to veture out into more custom fabrication. I saw an undertail the other night that looked rather nice. What are some thoughts on undertails? I would like to purchase something that will look awsome and be built to last. I appreciate all your input and advice.
Thanks, Walt

I don't have one, nor have I ever installed one. I did do quite a bit of research however, and simply cut my stock fender a bit. 1. I didn't want to cut most of the stock undertail out (it seemd with all aftermarkets, a large portion of the stocker has to go. 2 They cost a lot. My advice would be, if you buy one, make SURE it is for a superhawk. There are tons of them for the VTR1000 that WILL NOT fit a superhawk.

Eh i'll post up mine since im bored. I have a Mototeck undertail as many members here do and im not sure if you can still find them on ebay, but they used to be all over. Sharkskins has what looks like a nice one on there site and rumble imports makes one. There are some others. Undertails are getting scarce for the SH...

I have a spare undertail. It is a Rumble Import with 2 round taillites, not the retarded looking cat eye tailllite. It is red and I have red & clear lenses with it. If interested, let me know.

Unfortunately not. I sold this a while back and UPS decided to fold it in half in route to the buyer. I got it back and the only thing salvaged was the tail lights.. Not sure if they make this one anymore.

Ermax makes huggers and undertail kits for the Superhawk. I was told that they don't require much/no cutting to existing bodywork. My mechanic who has been working on my new to me VTR1000F insisted I buy one. He builds Blackbirds and uses Ermax undertail kits and swears by them.
