How best to Change Tank Decal?

OK, I want to put the '98 red wing decal on my '04 fuel tank. Its under the clear coat. is there an easy way to remove it with out repainting the tank?

Not that I know of.

The only way to get that sticker off is to remove the clear coat first.

If it was me and I REALLY didn't want to repaint the tank, i would just stick it over the white one and clear coat over that (or not).

Yeah, if you can cover it up it might work out.
You might be able to just sand the clear coat away to the point the sticker would come off, but that sounds hard to gauge. And you'll have to clear coat it anyway (or you might destroy the paint).

I'm just throwing ideas out I have no clue how they'll work.

I purchased a silver Honda wing logo from Tape Works Graphics that covered the stock black logo on a red tank. The TWG part covered the Honda logo perfectly. Though it was tedious to install. All in all I was pleased with the results. Unless you got ur eye within a foot of the logo you couldn't tell it was a vinyl sticker.
