High Mount Pipes

SnappleKat here.

I have a stock '98 VTR1000 superhawk and I was wondering if it's possible to route the pipes under the rear fairing without melting it. I know i'll have to insulate it but I'm not sure if anyone makes a "kit" that i can use to facilitate me in this.

thanks,

Snapple.

No kits. They have been custom built but you're on your own. The closest thing to an "undertail" exhaust was made back in the day by Wolf. I use quotes because it wasn't as "undertail" as say a 916 Ducati. More ultra high mount with the outlets exiting under the tail. Hasn't been available new in forever. I've come across a couple over the years used but haven't seen one in a long time. Best of luck finding one...

With regards to heat shielding Thermotec makes a heat shield I've used in the past that I can't say enough good things about. Works FANTASTIC. As I've mentioned before I restored an older GSXR600 racebike and didn't want to burn my beautiful new paint job. So I glassed in some of that heat shielding from Thermotec. The fairing was red hot where there was no shielding and the header was probably 4 inches away. Where the header was an inch or two away with the shielding it was mildly warm to the touch. Great stuff.
