Full paint job cost??

Full paint job cost??
So, how much should a good full paint job run me??
I had it priced yesterday and I was a little shocked at $900.....
Is that about right or am I getting ripped...

Let me guess.. you're trying to keep up with me? And changing to that fast Yellow... it's ok, you can admit it...
Seroiusly though.. $900 for a complete paint job doesnt sound TOO bad.. is the guy good? Does that INCLUDE paint? Are you taking the pieces off, or is he? Clear coating, or just base paint? Tank too? Are you masking or is he?
My paint ALONE was near $200/qt.

LOL,,, Nope going back with the Candy Blue.
I am going to take off the bodywork and take it to him. That includes the paint and decals. That is for the entire bike. He is going to shoot multiple layers because of the Candy color. He is going to clear over the decals also. He does great work and I have no doubt that it will be an A#1 job but I just have a little sticker shock I guess.
He is going to probably use "House of Color" paint because of price. They have a Candy Blue that is extremely close to the factory color.

Sorry for your sticker shock, but that's about what mine cost, too...and that didn't include decals and multiple sprays...I think I'm the one who got ripped. You get what you pay for, though, and I'm sure you'll be happy with the product...and when you're happy, hell, you'll forget the amount you paid (until you drop it!)

You can probably save most of that if you do the prep work yourself.
Wet sanding is tedious and time consuming.
If that price includes high-quality paint, I'd say it's a pretty good deal.
I paid $270 for paint and $300 for labor and did all of the prep work, wet-sanded the base color and applied the decals before clearcoating.

The yellow color is a 3 layer process to get it right, I was quoted 800+ less the tank which I had in new old stock. I scored fairly good plastic on ebay and spent about 265. Good luck!

a majority of the cost associated with paint is in the prep and finishing work...if this includes prep sanding, primer, paint, decals, clear, and all the color sanding and final buff I'd say you've got a decent deal going.
if you know the guy, ask if you can do some of the labor and cut costs...plus you'll learn a few things while you're at it

I know him. I grew up with him and go to church with him now. I just don't have time to do any of the work myself.
The price includes everything except pulling off and rehanging the plastic's.

that sounds decent. mine is almost done at the paint shop. they had to repair both halves of front fairing, changing whole bike from red to black and getting hand pin striping done all over the bike, black and silver maltese crosses with flames, will match my helmet. they charged me $1500 out the door and that is takin it apart and puttin it back together. One thing I have learned restoring cars is you get what you pay for with paint, like everyone says its the labor involved and how unique you want it to be.

Sounds like a good deal to me, but don't forget the internet...there is a local painter in my area that advertises on Craigslist and does great work for pretty cheap, in his spare time. There might be a similar resource in your area.
