I have the T-Rex ones and HIGHLY recommend them. They do a great job, but they are kind of ugly.

Spiegler makes their LSL sliders for our bike they look better, and have good reports from some who use them here. They cost more than the T-Rex but don't stick out as far so might not provide quite as much protection. http://www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/FrameSliders.cfm

So if looks are most important go for LSL, if you don't care if they are a bit big, get the T-Rex.

In my recent accident the only reason my fairing got scratched at all is because the bike was up against the curb.. No slider can deal with that situation.

i have t-rex. They do work, just don't slide off the road into the dirt, and the bike wont even have 1 scratch

wow the response to this was way more helpful than me banging my head against the computer... With the offset bracket- is there any issue with a fracture or weak point there or are they the shisse when it comes to it?

** also any decent pictures of them mounted would be awesome

I went down at about 50mph last week and they held up fine. Def worth the money and uglyness.

Here's a pic of mine. The offset bracket means it can still bolt to the frame rail, but the crash bung then clears the fairing. If you used a straight puck, you'd have to drill/modify the fairing.

Cheers,

Paul.

Mine are Lightning Performance. This is some odd brand that apparently doesn't sell directly - I got them from my local mc parts store. I found the brand on the internet, but not the specific model for the VTR1000.

Not the best photo showing the sliders, but I think they look good.

Isn't there another thread for a group buy for the T-Rex sliders?

This wasn't meant to be a "group buy" thread, I just wanted to know what my options were, and so far it seems like t-rex, honda stealership, or some off brand... I like having more options, but ah well. Thanks all for the info... Reaper has the group buy been accomplished yet?

If you want the T-Rex slider, reference:"Superhawk Frame Slider Group Buy -Hannah" when you place the order. Also, send me your name and mailing addy so that I can forward this on to T-Rex so that everyone gets their discounts.

I've just finished building kinda cross between sliders and crashbars.
I can't stand fixation systems of sliders available aftermarket and collection of crash results photos + my own experience left me dissatisfied with fact that sliders, available for Shawk do not distribute force to 2-3 points. I usually do only long-distance tours and bike should remain mobile in event of lowside etc., that was my main objective.
This how they came out. I do not have TIG welder, so this is simple invertor stick welder and usual steel pipes that I had to use. Also I used remains of my LSL sliders that were trashed in previous incident.
But as soon as I have TIG welder I will re-make them from aluminium alloy. Now I just need to get piece of Nylon 66 type round bar to make 60 mm sliders + small ring from crushable impact absorbing material so that on first hit slider will move a bit along bolt to absorb some of impact - just way most respectable slider-making companies make them (Moko, Metisse, Gilles, L performance). Plus I need to install carbon cover on top of clutch cover to prevent damage (sliders won't save it most of the time).

Bluesman, WOW! Finished product looks good. Plastic caps on the bolt holes. Very nice looking. Hopefully, you won't have to use them.
