Don't freak out yet!!!!

Okay, maybe I am getting ahead of myself a little.

This next semester I have a plastics technology course, in which I have numerous students who have taken it once before. I was thinking of having them make some parts for the S'hawk. Possibly carbon fiber?! Oh crap, here come the pm's. But really, my main project would be a "monoposto" for my undertail fiasco (with built in frame and modular computer storage, the ratttling around is killing 'em). But, i could have them do lowers or seat cowls. Just an Idea. I realize that I couldn't guarantee extreme quality, or any large order of parts (kids are slow workers, need more whips), but it could be interesting. Let me know what you think.

Bill

Oh yeah, if people are interested in specific parts in carbon, or kevlar, I would need an origianl to make a mold to make our product.

Have them make huggers for the rear tire. Should be easy to do and profitable. I'd buy one if they weren't crazy expensive.

Iwould probably only take on one project. Huggers, or lowers, or cowls. The thing is, I don't have a hugger or lower to make my molds off of. This would be the item that would be useful to have. It isn't lost in the whole procedure, and typically is not damaged(we use extreme multicoats of wax to release the mold, think 10+). It would be cool if we could get someone who has one that we could use to make our molds and then send back to them.

would the person that supplied you with this item be in the position to receive a free product or one at a deep discount?

Drew

I have one that I brought and mounted but never on the road. I will do a SSS so it wouldn't be useful to me. Would you consider taking it off my hand at what i paid for and I will in turn pay for shipping.

If not I will donate the hugger and in return take whatever Bill makes from another master.

Why don't you make carbon fiber tank pads. You can use the tank as an initial mold. These are cool as hell, fairly easy to make, and not very common here in the States.

I'd buy one!

A Moriwaki-style lower cowl would be cool.

Hate the full coverage Sharkskins-style lower cowls... they make the Super Hawk/Firestorm look like all the other crotch rockets out there!

Make a fly screen that would incorporate the original headlight and instrument cluster, yet leave room under it for handle bar clearances on a streetfighter !

my vote: lower fairing

(Just as an aside: I had a MoTrax CF tank protector. {Got one if anyone wants it - it's new - $10+shipping.} While it would be fairly easy & cheap to make; they come apart & unravel due to abrasion. Probably because to keep it flexible enough to conform to the tank you have to use little or no resin.)

My vote: Tank pad

I just got a Moriwaki lower fairing, don't need any repeats

Although if that does end up being the consensus, I would be more than willing to provide it for usage.

While I would LOVE and prefer a large capacity tank....
I'll vote for a bellyfairing if that gets the most interest.

chain guard/hugger should give them enough variables to work with to separate the A students from the C students.

bump bump

New semester starts this next week. M only concerns about this is if I do the carbon fiber, that I will need to use some uv protector in the mix. It looks like it will be a lower or rear cowl. I have the rear cowl, anyone have a lower to use??? Let me know ad we will work something out.
