Discusted with faring repair

Well I tried to repair and paint my faring myself. Cost me a bunch of time and now I've got a left side that looks like hammered dog ****. I've never tried to paint before and it shows. Any suggestions?

Sand it down and try again.

show some pics. I would be in the same boat. I sent some of my stuff recently for paint to empireGP and they did a really great job. I imagine this is getting to be peak season for paint/repair though so whereever you go get a firm time estimate

also, list your location in your profile - someone may know somebody very good locally

Keep practicing? Hard to comment without seeing your technique. The best paint job in the world will still look like **** over crappy bodywork. Don't beat yourself up it's not easy or everyone would do it. And it's also extremely time consuming. Kudos for trying. I haven't looked recently but there are lots of books and in a dark corner on youtube you'd be amazed what you can learn about just about anything from all the instructional videos on there. If you want to learn I'd say just keep practicing. If you don't care and just want it done right go to a pro, ask to see some examples of finished work first, and let them do it.

Stating the obvious but a decent finish can't be achieved unless the preparation is done right. And the preparation can be 95% of time spent on the project and short cuts can't be covered by a coat of paint.

Post some pics of what you've done so far and we'll steer you right

Yup, it's all in the prep work before shooting any paint.

The good thing is nothing's permanent. The bad thing is you have to start all over.

GL and post up some pics.
