Repair Abs faring p-tex?

I bought a cracked up VTR.. and I need to repair the fairings. I found a great article on "how to" that tells you to buy sheets 1/32" of ABS plastic and using
http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/s...&storeId=10051

Acrylic ABS adhesive (any hardware store has this) you can glue the new abs on the back side of the fairing to hold the pieces tight and flat.

but how do I fill in the gap/crack. to prepare for painting. =P-tex?
toko Repair candle.. you light the end and drip it in the crack like candle wax then then sand it smooth when it cools.

Has anyone every tried to use this method to repair a fairing?

I have used this in the past.

I'm sure there are more "professional" ways like actual plastic welding, but this stuff is easy to use (it's thick and doesn't run) and I've repaired fairings several times in the past with it and had them professionally painted and they looked brand new. I also recently made new tabs for a tail fairing and attached them with this. When I tested the strength by bending on the tab it actually began cracking the fairing in a different place, so I know it works. If you're creative with some backing tape you can even rebuild more complex shapes as well. Give it a try. Advance Auto always has it in stock. Be careful and don't buy an almost identical looking product from Loctite (sold in Home Depot and Lowes) as it's very runny and harder to work with.

soldering iron. Get ABS cement, used for connecting ABS pipe. Use sanding dust from your ABS panels to thicken up the cement for use as a backing to the cracks. Some drywall fiberglass tape is a good idea on the back as well.

I'll see if I can dig up a "how-to" for you off wiki.

Plastics repair with ABS cement - Ninja250Wiki

This method worked well for me, and it's cheap too.
