Body Repair
I have 3 or 4 deep scratches in my tail section. Wondering if some bondo and an attempt at a color match from Autozone will work?
Can sort of see it here....below the seat cowl...

fine bondo, and sand it down with fine sandpaper, then goto a real auto body paint supplier and have them mix up a pint of at least mid grade ( like omni ) paint from the honda paint code.
Stock paint is uni-coat, meaning you dont need clear.
autozone paint would never match right, and probably not stick right either.

Better pics of my problem. PO said "The garage door hit it." ....I sort of believe him...other than the angle....couldn't tell you how many times I almost hit stuff when shutting the garage door....maybe he was trying to tuck it behind his car?

You will not be able to match color at Autozone or any other over the counter paint. Very difficult red to match up. Color Rite has your paint, Italian Red - Honda 157, but it's not cheap. It is a two step process for color: base coat and then color coat. Plus you have to do primer and then clear. Their paint is urethane based so it flexes. I did my lower and it matched up perfect.

With a Hawk that good looking, I'd spring for a new tail section. Ron Ayers lists it for $270. The time and effort saved trying to repair the old one would be worth it to me. I'm sure with my lack of patience and painting skills it would never turn out right!
edited to add: You could possibly sell the old one to get a few bucks back.

This is a color in factory form that needs no multiple processes or layers.
Theres no flakes or pearls at all in the stock color,
You can mix a single element paint with the honda(superhawk) paint # in a very good
grade of paint, and not have to do difficult multi-layered painting.
ex.-the worst being tri-coat paint jobs where theres two or three different color layers then a bunch
of clear over that.

those scratches are not too bad, sand them down with 180 grit and them feather edge with 320. Fill the remainder with a high build 2K primer and wetsand when dry with 400 grit. . Clean and paint with GM Paint called Flame red, it is an exact match to the Honda paint code. Make sure to scuff the entire section with a maroon scotchbrite pad so the paint and clear sticks to the rest of the fairing.

that sounds like a good idea to me , your bike looks pretty clean , its very difficult to get a professional paintjob finish , and it could spoil the look of your bike
