Bent Mirror Mount

Hey so I bought my VTR used and knew that it had been dropped one time and the left mirror had broken off, no damage to paint or anything else simply the mirror. So I ordered a set of mirrors to replace assuming everything would hook up. They came in yesterday and the right side fit like a glove no problem at all. The left side however seems to have been bent from when it was dropped. The fairing did not mount up right gave a little fight. I was going to just bend it back into a more appropriate place because as of right now it rubs against the Clutch Master Cylinder. I didn't think it would be a big problem to just bend it back, but I was curious if there are really any safety concerns or not.

Safety nope... Cosmetic, well...

Measure it to make sure you get it straight, and I wouldn't recommend doing the bending on the bike... It's not that much work to get it off...

Will do. Do you by chance know what material it is, or have any recommended methods for repositioning it?

It is steel, so is weldable if it tears rather than bends nicely.

Jammed between fence posts and straightened with a pipe worked for my nasty old one, but I used a couple of small trees and a rag on the pipe to preserve the finish on my better one. Measure and make small adjustments. You can tweak it pretty far. I have VFR bars and needed some additional fairing clearance and it was no problem.
