So I couldn't resist staying away from sportbikes. I miss canyon-rides too much. I don't ever plan on commuting on two wheels again, but at least this baby is street legal (unlike the KTM).

Mine is the one on the left (the biposto 748 ); the bling bling 996 is my buddy's.

She needs a little bit of TLC before she's ready to see the world - some replacement Dzus fasteners, a mirror (!!!), and new sprockets and chain. But soon, very soon, I'll be back on a twin.

Sweet, I love the Ducs. I want a Monster in the worst way.

ack what what what? when'd this happen? I'd consider the 996 biposto but they're still so expensive

Those Monsters are definitely on my "To Have" list. I'd probably pick the least-molested, lowest-priced one I could get my hands on...and then mod the heck out of it!

Haha, I bought it a few weeks ago, but haven't mentioned it to anyone else yet. Still in the process of making it over. I have my track plastics for this bike already.

As for the price, I've noticed that the only Ducati Superbikes to really feel any heat from the 1098 are the 749/999 series. My guess is the 1098 still looks very much like the 748/916/996/998, so those maintain their value. Aesthetically, the Terblanche bikes are lacking.

Not yet! But I'm sure I'll be in the dog house soon.

#9 - That Barges video is one of my favs! Just watching the guys go through traffic gives me flashbacks of my accident, but it's still entertaining.

Congrats. Here I thought you were relegated to the world of four-wheeled doldrums. Alas, you've found salvation!

So, I guessed right - she doesn't know! Naughty, Naughty! Aw, ****! Just leave it at your buddy's house. In another few months she'll have more than enough to keep her busy. During which time I think you should polish up on your "upright" skills. Road rash and broken collarbones are not the by-products of bowling or playing cards. j/k Not commuting is probably the biggest part of that so I think that's cool. More Pictures!

I had road rash and a broken collar bone three weeks before our wedding 22 years ago but some things never change!

Oh yes, she WILL find out. You'll slip, things come out unexpectantly.

No worries. She's aware, but she's got some idea that the bike will be sold before the baby arrives. I'll try the overpriced-bike-didn't-sell-i-guess-i-better-keep-it approach first.

More pictures are coming soon. But I want to get her looking better before I take more pics.

Ok I thought you were already working that angle on the KTM! Did you trade the KTM for the Duc or are you back to a two-bike family now? Tell her it's for insurance. If she has a girl then that's perfect balance in your life - two girls - two bikes! If she has a boy, then you're just planning ahead - that way he'll have something to ride.

LoL

Good planning!

The KTM is still here. I just used the money I had saved for going part-crazy on the KTM towards the 748 purchase. I wanted to have a real fast 450SMR, but I'd rather just have fun on the bike and ride it. 'Tis a slippery slope once one starts modding.

That's good! I had to put the brakes on my mods on the Superhawk this winter too! For me it's too easy to be perpetually tore down. I had to set my goals and leave it at that so I can ride it. If you get the hardware can you get the KTM street legal?

About a year ago, it was okay to get a kit from a company, such as Baja Designs, and make an off-road bike street-legal. The DMV has started revoking those licenses since August (IIRC) of last year for such-titled bikes. Such is life in California, the land of fruits and nuts!

Wheelie? Ducatis don't wheelie. They park at coffee shops and show off to each other.

Congrats, nice ride!

I think you should just keep the bikes and enjoy your kid. I did the same thing when I was younger, but ended up getting back into it within a few years. When your kid comes, you won't have as much time to mess with around with them for a while of course, but in your free time you will need an outlet. From a financial standpoint, you will have another dependent on your tax return next year, so it won't be quite as hard on you as you might think- I can't wait for my next tax return, I just had my third daughter last Oct.!!
