Fresh Pickup 1998 14k miles
Hawk looks pretty good sans wheels. Is it just the pic or do I see lots of scratching? If so, a good fix is to polish the lips.
Here's a pretty good thread w/ pics if your interested: https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...el-lips-15124/

Ya. The guy i got it from had new tires put on the day before I picked it up and the shop scratched the one side of the wheels. I am thinking of having them powdercoated this winter. But I will look into the polish idea as well
Welcome to the forum. Read up on Automatic Cam Chain Tensioner (ACCT) failures leading to bent valves with this motor. And, mine let go right around 14k miles, so mileage isn't the best indicator.
They must have changed the tires with a pitch fork.

Those are already purchased and getting changed for sure. I worked in a Honda dealership for 4 years and in the motorsports industry for 23 and I don't know how many times that I have recommended getting those changed out only to be shrugged off. I would usually see people back in with issues related to the suggested service that was ignored only to have a new estimate that was significantly higher.
Valve adjustment is also getting done this winter.

Euro and Brit bikes were we're the hot ticket back in the sixties until the Honda cb750, H1 and H2 came out, and then the Kawi 900
But the 2 strokes of the mid and late seventies were the hot ticket until the EPA said no

Welcome to the forums and like so many I have a red VTR as well. 🥰
Not sure if it's the fastest color but I'm adding some factory yellow to mine while it's being rebuilt to produce a few more ponies on looks alone. 😂
Glad you're here and enjoy the ride. 🤙

Very nice. Yeah the paint can be pretty delicate on these wheels. I already had some missing the day they took my brand new '98 out of the crate and they ordered a brand new wheel for me. As was said if you care polishing the lips is a pretty easy option (they're smooth underneath so it's fairly easy to do). Even easier, you can honestly spray any sort of matching color into a cap and touch it up with a brush and you'll not see it unless you're right up against it. Welcome aboard!
