The 2009 "Run with the Nuns" Rally. (Pics inside)
First off, this ride was me and my Wifes first rally. I had been to poker runs and toy runs before with my Dad when i was real little, but this was the first time on my own bike. We both had a BLAST! Everyone was overly nice, and for the registration fee ($25) I felt you got ALOT of stuff! We got there at 8:00am, Had breakfast (Eggs, grits, Biscuits & gravy, fresh fruit), Got a free t-shirt, The priest had a Biker blessing, and a blessing of the bikes themselves. We then all suited up and went on a beautiful scenic ride through northwest Louisiana. Got back, and they had lunch waiting on us. Italian sausage, and burgers with all the fixins and desserts. They had a bike show, tatto contest, an auction and 2 live bands. We had a GREAT TIME!
The local news covered it, and actually interviewed my wife, although they didnt use that part on the broadcast, they did manage to get her and i coming through this arch. There were right at 1000 bikes there. Only a handful of sportbikes (maybe 8 total), a few adventure bikes and then a ton of cruisers.
Ok, enough talking, heres the pics.....

I was a bit chilly. 47 degrees at 8:00am

There really were nuns there! Notice the nun on the left with the leather vest... nice!

My Hawk, My wifes Suzuki GS500f and a Versys. You can see how we were surrounded by nothing but cruisers.... WE REPRESENTED!

A new local distributor for sucker punch sallys custom bikes... This one was my favorite

Custom (hilarious) airbrushing on a gixxer

Just a little bit of chrome.. JESUS!

The tag on the back said it was made by Throuroughbred customs. Stallion model

Gnarly grill

Halfway through the ride, we stopped and took over a gas station.

Thats all i have at the moment. I was too busy trying to see everything, and slacked on the picture taking. There is a toy run next month im going to try to attend as well.
After i typed all that, i just realized that this might need to be moved to Group rides or another suitable part of the forum

how does your wife like the GS 500? my girlfriend has a 91 katana, i'm thinkin its a little heavy for her. power is good and shes fine as long as she doesn't drop it. but if shes goes out by herself and puts it down i'm concerned she won't be able to get it back up. i dunno, we bought it on a whim, price was right, $1,700 for a 91 with 5,000 original miles, couldn't pass it up. maybe we will sell it in the spring and get something more suitable...
lol. leave that to the moderators! That looks like a great time. Closest thing i've got to compare is "bike night" its a local thing every tuesday during the summer in lowell MA. Its okay. theres a lot of the r6's and gixers with chicken strips like whoa that come to hang out and flash their gang signs, only a handfull of real people that actually show up. One night I went down and saw a guy running his turbo-Vmax on the dyno, they cleared everyone out from behind the thing once it started up. have to say thats one of my favorite bikes. Thats the sort of stuff i go down there to see, just the crazy stuff that guys do to their bikes.
