I know why we're called squids
sorry guys...I WAS trying to sell the bike...a 1999 SH which didn't run right...
but then I began to read the stuff on here...and before I knew it I had it running pretty good...took it out and it BLEW my mind...
discovered the $1800 SH I'd bought covered in dust actually had only 10,500 miles...and someone had done lots of the stuff you guys teach here...
I fell in love with it...
please forgive this justly titled "squid"

So with that out of the way welcome aboard, I used to have the same bike. Looks pretty nice and sounds like a sweet deal. Take some better pics and tell us about it. If that snapon box in the background is your's you can't be TOO big of a squid

yeah that's my box
thanks...
yeah...its my box...been a mechanic on cages for 35 years before earning a Ph.D. in American History in 2007...now I teach part time at Columbia College Chicago and wrench part time at Midas Muffler...
I know...people always ask why I would wrench with a doctorate...truth is you can't quit....at least I couldn't...my body started messing with me...six months after strictly teaching I felt crappy for the first time in my life...tae kwon do only helped a little...HAD to go back to wrenching 12 hours a day just to feel "normal" again....
according to what I learned here...the SH has EBC rotors, CRG levers and steel braided lines...zero grav screen...micron cans...Hy Per Pro ASC Steering Stabilizer...and that's about as far as I got...
took it out and although it runs real lean...it came up on me at about 5,000 rpm and I never felt anything like it in my life...even my 98 R1 never felt so solid...
needless to say...it was love for such a beautiful piece of motorcycle art...
I'll get out my Canon 7D tomorrow and shoot some pics...

That's awesome, you'll fit right in here That's funny that you say that, I've found that wrenching on stuff put's my mind at ease as well. I always hated way back in high school how I was told working on cars "wasn't for me" because I did too well in school for that...whatever...fast forward and I still love fixing stuff today. Again welcome aboard.

i paid $2250 for my yellow 98 with jardine highmount cans, k/n, some kind of jet kit as it runs flawless and pulls like a freight train.
guy gave me a matching helmet and leather too with it.
Anyway I think you got the best deal i have ever seen in my life on any set of wheels. And I thought I got a smokin deal.
