'03 Hawk Build - The Tangelo Edition
So I just posted how I got the bike in my intro thread. Below is pics of the bike that I have. They are a repeat of the intro pics but I want to keep all my progression pics together.
As it sits as of 6/9/13
When I googled the 2003 hawk I noticed a bit of differences between fairing styles within what was marked as 2003. Here are some examples :
This blue is my favorite color so I think I will be doing something like this
Red also looks really great :
However I really want to get away from a single color scheme. I want something like this :
But I am not sure why this one has two headlights...
I have already purchased a new Integrated LED Tail Light and a new windscreen.
Ill make more posts as I have more progression. I am going to start tearing this bike down to clean it first.
Cheers
Tupp

The RC51 (VTR1000-SP1, SP2) is a completely different, but similar 90 degree V-twin, built for The purpose of winning World Superbike, when Ducati had a clear advantage over 750cc 4 cyl superbikes. The VTR1000F was a test platform for the prototype engine.
Installing RC51 fairings makes the Super Hawk look like a wannabe RC51, instead of the beautiful, proud street bike that it is.
But that's just my opinion...

I love the look of the Hawk. Hence why I traded away my beloved fireblade. I am going to see what I can do with fixing my current fairings but idk if I have the patience to do that much body work. I think ill pay a shop to paint it so that I get a good shine on this beast

FYI all stock superhawks were sold with the same bodywork. Only the paint changed (and the tank on some euro models). They have a chin fairing (no full lower) and all the same tail.
That blue one you pictured has a tail from a different bike and full lower fairing. Both added on later. The red one also has a full lower, braced swingarm, USD forks, and 5 spoke rims (among other things) which all greatly contribute to the look.
Just letting you know so you don't go searching...

+1... People always talking bout the Hawk is ugly... I think it's so futuristically, classically beautiful that they just can't wrap their psyche around it. I don't think there's been too many swaps that don't look like a swap. Going naked is one thing. But force fitting a set of fairings from a different bike is another and they always just look like the other bike with a superhawk tail. If anything, I like the biposto tail swaps

Well here is my plan...
Just got a new front tire today because I have this disease that you can only get relief from everyday life by putting a solid 2-3 hours of ride time per day. It is my medication. Plus the old tire was janky.
Now I am looking for a windscreen, integrated LED tail light and sone other odds and ends. there is always little parts that are picked up here and there but I don't know what they are yet
Then after weeks of saving and doing odd jobs ill have enough scratch to buy some ebay fairings

Here is some updated pics I cleaned it up today. Installed a 6000K HID and a matching 6000K LED position light. New levers. Rear seat cowl I hammered out the right can strap so that it was not so crushed in to the muffler. It really helps dtaw attenetion away from the smash
