how do metal caps come off of old cct

How do I remove the caps from the old cct to put on the new ape ones? The metal came right off, but I can not get the rubber underneath off. I read on the post of how to replace that these need to go on the new ones.
Thank you.
Darren

metal caps? IIRC there is absolutely nothing that needs to be transfered from stock to ape

Thank you. The one thread said metal caps need transferred.
So I should just put the ape unit in as is with the gasket?
Thanks.

It's been a while since I did them, but I think they just go in as is. With new gasket of course. Take your time and it's an easy task. Hopefully you took off the valve covers to make sure you can check chain tension and verify that the cam sprockets don't skip.

I sure did take off the covers. I have really been taking my time. Then I read this and got confused. I thought I read it here, about the metal caps needing taken off of the old ones because they are not supplied with the new ones. I must have been mistaken.
Thank you.
