What's really funnny is that thing goes for about $9k. My friend builds them down in DC. It's a Honda Ruckus that's been extended with a 250cc engine.

He sold one a month or two ago for $11k.

That is funny! Why would anyone want to pay that much for a Ruckus! Those things are overprice from the get go!

yep thats it.. red plastic bottle STP gas treatment. let me know how you do with it (curious to see if its a fluke). added to a 3rd tank but haven't been able to ride due to another damn nail found its way into my brand new rear tire (dang tire must be jinx'd as this is the 2nd nail.)

Because the VIN shows it as a 49cc, no MC endorcement, no reg, no insu, and you can park on the sidewalk. Right now they zip around D.C. like they own the city. 90 mph max at around 80 mpg really hammering.

I'm sure it will be short lived. Eventually cops will get sick of them and push legislation to ban them on the street.

I right with everyone today... Got a 2002 Toro push mower that wouldn't start. Got a carb rebuild kit and everything inside that was once solid is a black goo stuck to everything it shouldn't be. Some are gone entirely.

I was kinda thinking on the idea of running 100 Low Lead Aviation fuel...

That stuff works wonderful in a buddy's 73 CB750 bobber....

The 100 - 110 octane would be great for performance but the cost ($5.09 / gal here at the airport I live at) and the lead (I am curious as to how bad it would gunk up the valve guides) are the 2 really big negatives in that equasion..

You guys are hilareous... You know what... I have been living with 6-8% ethanol in my fuel since the early 90's... My VTR has never run on anything but that mix, and neither have my lawnmovers... None of them have had the carbs messed up because of this...

So why the big gas gussling US can't figure out how to make cars, bikes and lawnmovers that work with that, and the rest of the world can, is a big mystery to me...

Now, don't get me wrong, I'd like to get 100% gas myself, but I still find it hilarious that you have such big problems switching over to ethanol blends, with ruined parts, and making a big fuss about it, when we have been living with it relatively problem free in that respect over here for about two decades now...

Never faced this problem either for us up here. Perhaps there is another factor being overlooked. I know I've often seen on other threads many guys use regular gas in thier Hawks. I personally never use anything else
but super unleaded, it usually has different chemical agents inside, which in turn, may prevent this sort of thing from happening.

That being said, I don't even remember what Honda recommends for fuel in these bikes. If it's 87, then it's one of the very, vey few bikes out there that run with such poor gas in it. Nevertheless, it's no laughing matter when you have to keep considering how to counter act such problems.

Honda specs 87 octane, running higher octane fuel is actually just a waste of $$

I have also never had an "ethanol" issue either.
